Debt. 1. 6 trillion, all of it gone. Well have the details on utopian plan. That much more on making money. Charles the white house slapping new sanctions on iran amid a deepening standoff with the islamic republic. Blake burman at the white house with more. Blake. Reporter President Trump dialing up the sanctions against iran to the highest of levels. The president signing an executive order in the oval office today with sanctions targeting the iran Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. It also extended to the Supreme Leaders Office and members of the top military. The Supreme Leader is ultimately one responsible for the hostile conduct of the regime. Assets of Ayatollah Khamenei and his office will not be spared from the sanctions. These measures are a strong and proportionate response to irans increasingly provocative actions. Reporter last week President Trump was skeptical that the drowning of an american drone was intentional from iran. Today the administration is not saying what sanctions were for past iranian actions. Like attacks on oil tankers. What was specifically in response to that u. S. Drone that was shot down. We got a surprise appearance from the treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin in the Briefing Room earlier today. Some of these were in the works. Some of these were in addition. All of the above. Reporter Steve Mnuchin also telling us, charles, the administration is not yet done with the sanctions at highest of levels against iranian leadership. He also said sanctions against irans foreign minister are coming as well. Charles . Neil charles blake, thank you very much. For more on the escalating tensions, im joined by republican congressman ted yoho from florida. Congressman, thanks for joining us. Thanks, charles. Charles last week President Trump had a command decision. For the most part he was applauded. Last minute calling off a military strike that could have involved a loss of a lot of lives. Theyre going deeper into the sanctions. Most experts agree it is these tough economic sanctions are creating such havoc within iran, it is causing them to act in a desperate fashion. At what point does it cause them to act in more civilized fashion, come to the negotiating table . First off, i dont think these are the ones that are making them act in a desperate fashion. Maybe with the drone. Look at what iran has done over the last three or four decades. They have had a radical agenda since the ayatollahs have taken power. They are lashing out because they are mad about the sanctions and it has caused economic strife in their country. But, to back off at this point would be like rewarding a bad child. I think President Trump is spot on with these sanctions. Agree with him, they need be harder, more intrusive on the generals and irgc. Anyone feeling hatred iran does, let them come into the modern 21st century world to build an economy. Charles to that point, apparently frances president macron, Angela Merkel, theyre expected to ask President Trump to ease up on the economic sanctions later on this week at the g20 summit. I think what i would like to see is Angela Merkel and president macron get on the side of President Trump and put more sanctions on there, to bring iran to the table, to say that this action that they are doing is unacceptable in the modern world. Again, charles, theyre living from the 1979 overtake of iran and, they havent changed their playbook. If you look at the amount of soldiers we had that were maimed in afghanistan and iraq, 70 of those were caused by ieds. 90 of those ieds came out of iran. They have been med link in countries in south america, central america, theyre destablizing countries instead of focus on the iranian people. The hopes we get enough pressure on ayatollahs that the iranian people stand up. We will stand with the iranian people. Charles Steve Mnuchin spoke earlier today. He said locking money up would work because it worked last time. Do you think there is a particular timeline for this to be the last sort of part that squeezes some sort of at least, get the iranians to the negotiating table . I think the more pressure that is on there, obviously it would happen sooner. So that is why i think it is so important for other nations around the world. Look at six tankers that were sabotaged and detonated mines on. You had two from saw saud, one from the u. A. E. , two from norway or the norwegians, ones from japan. These countries need to come in together. Not just the United States, but these other countries are threatened too. Thank god we put in policies with this president to become Energy Secure in north america. With us, canada and mexico were secure. We dont need the middleeastern oil. The rest of the world does. I would think they would help President Trump to bring this none steps to an end once and for all. Charles i want to segue to immigration. There is twoweek reprieve on increase in deportations. Some people say in two weeks not enough time. It is really one week, considering congress will be jetting out on vacation. President trump and those in the administration say this is a problem that could be resolved in 15 minutes if congress wanted to resolve it. Absolutely. Again i think President Trump, the only reason youre seeing him be so hardline on it because this body, congress, the house and senate failed to respond to a crisis that has been brewing for 30 years. You know what President Trump can do and i challenge him to do this . If Congress Goes on recess for july, without solving this problem, he Reconvenes Congress like harry truman did in 1948. Hasnt been done, i will keep reconvening you every recess you take, until you fix the problem once and for all with the american people. Charles you mess with congresss vacation, you may start to get things done. Thank you for the suggestion. The American Public hopes the white house is listening. Thank you very much. By god, they need to. Charles thanks a lot. Stocks paring the gains. They were not up a lot. Not down a lot. Sort of moving sideways, but brushing off the global turmoil. Were in reach of record highs. I want to bring in to discuss, Td Ameritrade senior equity strategist kevin hintz. Kevin, thanks for joining us. Last week we had a extraordinary market obviously reacting to fed president jerome powell. Sure. Charles the markets anticipating too much good news in your mind . A couple things, charles, first and foremost as you stated at the beginning of the show, this is a very muted start to the week i guarranty you things will start picking up on wednesday morning. Durable goods on wednesday, gdp on thursday and gods on friday. After all that we Start Talking g20. Here is the thing, charles, what i will be watching all week, riskoff assets, 30 year bond, implied volatility spx, gold, even the japanese yen. We can watch all those for riskoff trade. Vix will stay volatile this week, g20, any results will not come out until after the market closes on friday. Charles to that point, stocks are up, s p had new alltime high on thursday, you have a mixed message there, sort of a bifurcated market. You bring up the key Critical Data points. Are you rooting for good news, you want stronger than expected gdp . What should wall street be looking for . First thing, you remember, some of the gold rally you can link over to the selloff in the u. S. Dollar. Gold is such a sensitive instrument, to the u. S. Dollar it is getting a little bit of boost from that. Make no mistake. Were looking at end of the week, we want a gdp number, 3. 1 , same as it was, this is the third look at first quarter, gdp. Then in terms of durable goods, we still got boeing being a big wild card in the durable goods number as Aircraft Sales are a big part of the headline durable goods number. Lastly well get a real good look at inflation with the pce income outlays. All those will paint a pretty nice picture where this economy is. Charles kevin, thank you very much. You set us up nicely for the end of the week. We appreciate it. Later on in this show, folks ben bernanke doesnt want to wipe out all 1. 6 trillion loans debt and investors foot the bill. Why this is a trojan horse to get free true wigs for all. Tuition. Were talking about the talks between United States and and g20. Well have preview what is on the agenda, really if something can get done. Maybe not a deal but moving towards a deal. Thats next. At comcast, we didnt build the nations largest gigspeed network just to make businesses run faster. We built it to help them go beyond. Because beyond risk. Welcome to the neighborhood, guys. Negotiators on both sides, meaning ahead of that main event between President Trump and xi in japan. Edward lawrence live from washington. Edward. Reporter they want to abandon the plan to basically put Everything Else china imports to the United States under a tariff. They said there would be Counter Measures they would take. President trump said he could make the decision on those tariffs after a meeting between president xi and president donald trump. The chinese hardening their language ahead of the g20 summit, saying the next round of trade talks, the u. S. Needs to meet the chinese halfway, negotiate based on Mutual Respect. Translator Mutual Respect means to respect each others sovereignty, equality, mutual benefit, means that the agreement, should there be any, must work for both sides. Compromise must be on both sides instead of only onesided. Reporter i can confirm from the chinese side, they say the phone conversations between the two delegations have taken place over the last couple days. The two delegations are expected before the two World Leaders meet at the g20 summit. The tone of those first meetings could play over, and spill over into the second meetings between the two president s. China wants the u. S. To come back to the table, u. S. Wants china to come back to the table, put back in the agreement everything they had agreed upon which they took out. That included enforcement. The chinese want the u. S. To meet them halfway. So not to be focused or and not to be focused on legal language and punishment in a deal. This seems like a stalemate but the u. S. Pushing forward with adding five companies to the entity list, companies and universities. That means theyre banned from u. S. Technology. Also the next round of tariffs being prepared now as we talked about. In the testimony last week the u. S. Trade representative said these tariffs are working. I know one thing that wont work, that is talking to them, because weve done that for 20 years. If there is better idea than tariffs, i would like to hear it. I havent heard it. You and i agree just chatting with them in a dialogue will not get them 20 change because that has proven to be unsuccessful. Reporter well know if next couple days there is posturing or a restart of the trade negotiations. Charles edward lawrence, thank you very much. For more, former Deputy Director of Commerce Department chris garcia. Chris, expectations are a little lower than they were before. For a while we thought we were on autopilot. Felt like we would have a big Rose Garden Party any moment. All that was erased. Were back on track. The two leaders are meeting. What should we be anticipating here . Yeah. First of all bob Robert Lighthizer is completely right about what china has been doing the last several decades. Diplomacy hasnt worked. The tariffs are working. What well see from the g20 summit, well not see a deal unfortunately, not this time around but what well see President Trump and president xi meeting for the First Time Since the executive order that effectively blacklisted huawei. Maybe well see some type of discussion removing huawei from the blacklist. Other five entities added to the list, walking that back. Maybe staving off threat of 300 billion of chinese tariffs imposed on those. Well see a very significant development, charles, is that president she, russian president putin and Prime Minister of india modi will all be meeting to find a way to Work Together to fight against President Trumps America First agenda. Like sun tzu said when youre weak you have to appear strong. Charles those Companies Involved around super computing. The United States may ask the european allies not to make any 5g equipment inside of china, further isolating that industry. On the flipside, a good piece of foreign affairs, xi, if he really wants to stay in power, has to deliver a singular promise to the Chinese People that would involve the ability to continue improvements in the tech area. So this might be ultimately the ultimate weapon for america . Yes. Charles the way President Trump handles china will be a defining moment in the United States history. It will be defining moment certainly in his presidency. This 5g requirement, that all component sold in the United States or used in the United States be manufactured outside of china is a brilliant idea. It does a couple things. First of all, number one were a free trade nation. Were a fair trade nation. But we have to understand china has not agreed to end Cyber Espionage as it stands now. What it would do, it would curb the Cyber Espionage, would curb the chinese, prevent them from doing that and number two reorient the supply chain from china, maybe to allies that dont participate in the bad action like china does. A welcome byproduct, it adds more chips to the table, this on going negotiation with china. The more chips we have to play with, more we have better outcome. Charles chris, i had Peter Navarro on friday. He made a lot of great points. I want to share one of them with you right now. We have a rock solid economy. We got very bullish financial markets. We have a rare bipartisan support on capitol hill, and in the general public for the china tariffs. And, lets see what happens. Im confident that the president with ambassador Robert Lighthizer at his side will do the right thing. We either get a great deal or we dont. Charles chris what do you make of the fact that Peter Navarro is right . The economy is rock solid. Gdp much better than anticipated . Wages are soaring, market hit an alltime high on thursday but yet the Business Community is becoming more and more vocal against President Trump . We were going to expect this but Peter Navarro was right. Bob lighthizer they are both right, tariffs worked. Peter is saying right now we have to take advantage of our Strong Economy to force china to play fair. We have a little bit of a buffer to absorb some of the impact lets say retaliatory tariffs as chinese shown with targeting key areas that are trump, President Trumps support base, soybean farmers in the heartland of america. Charles right. The more education that happens, the more americans understand what is at stake, what the National Security implications are, the more americans are supporting President Trumps ultimate agenda, America First, playing with fair, free, and reciprocal trade. Charles chris, thank you very much. Appreciate it. Thanks, charles. Charles a new poll finds more americans than ever call immigration our top problem. President trump Gave Congress two weeks after delaying the nationwide i. C. E. Raids . Can they pull it off because lawmakers say theyre skeptical that they can Work Together to find the ultimate deal . Thats next. Is where people first gathered to form the stock exchangeee, which brought people together to invest in all the things that move us forward. Every day, comcast business is helping businesses go beyond the expected, to do the extraordinary. Take your business beyond. Charles the countdown is on as President Trump is giving congress two weeks to work out a solution for the border after delaying a highly publicized i. C. E. Raids that were scheduled. Two weeks, that should be enough time, right . Joining me, marianne marsh, and from the trump 2020 Advisory Board madison gesiotto. Marianne, trump administration, this problem has been around a long time. Potential answers and solutions have been tossed out there for a long time. The sense of urgency has been thing that has been missing, maybe this can move the needle. It could be. Speaker nancy pelosi who called donald trump ask, he not do the raids, give her go weeks to try to put something together. This is not a fight whether there is enough money, how the money will be spent. 2017 when there was bipartisan immigration bill passed when republicans had house, senate and white house, that democrats agreed. Donald trump said he would sign it. At the last minute did not. Will donald trump agree to sign what both parties put together, the house and senate . Democrats and republicans. Only obstacle. Politically without the wall, immigration is a big important issue to donald trump and his base. It may, for the wrong reasons, trump may want to keep this issue alive for political reasons. Charles madison, republicans say, daca, and Immigration Crisis is a big issue for democrats able to portray republicans as ruthless, coldhearted and things like that. So, there is a political aspect to both sides. What about a solution for both sides . Yeah, there is definitely a political aspect here. I think we need solutions. We need results, for some years before President Trump we didnt see any results from the democrats or republicans on this issue. Sense of urgency is here not only in washington but across the country. People want to see the needle moving forward on this issue. When it comes to deportations, looking at the integrity of our immigration system this is important. At the end of the day we have millions of final orders and people stay, the final orders never will be honored that raises concerns, will the final orders ever serve as deterrents in the future to illegal immigration and stopping illegal immigration . If theyre not honored will people look at them seriously. We need to take a look at that seriously as well. Charles a few moments ago, nancy pelosi having broken u. S. Federal law. Violation of status is not a reason for deportation. One hand she is asking the white house, give us a some time to work out a solution but immediately starts to throw out the overtures. I think same sort of scenario, to certain folks in the party, you know, red meat to them. Does that make it harder or easier to really come up with a solution is. It is never easy to come up with a solution but everybody is hearing everybodys starting points in terms of negotiation. Nancy pelosi laid down a marker. Im sure you will hear one from donald trump and mitch mcconnell. Expect this for the next two weeks. Charles will democrats socalled grand bargain would they do anything if it involved funding the border wall . Okay in 2017 it included funding for the border wall. Why no one can believe donald trump did not sign that now you expect to have to be a quid pro quo, funding for the wall includes daca. Charles les shift gears, big Democrat News will be debates, biden still a frontrunner. He unveiled his immigration plan in an oped in todays miami herald. He is calling for immediate citizenship for 800,000 or so dreamers brought to the United States as children. He is attacking President Trump using immigration quote, to scare the voters in 2020. Madison, your thoughts on bidens plan . Well you know i think he is wrong when it comes to him talking about President Trump using immigration to scare voters. That is not the case at all. President trump is listening to voters across this country, listening to their concerns. Hoping to bring bipartisan support for immigration plan, change loopholes, modernize the immigration system. Stop the overflow in the courts. Our courts are completely overburdened with hundreds of thousands of cases pending on the docket. There are Major Concerns the president is trying to address some of which were simply left out of joe bidens plan. Charles madison, do we chip away at these or the ability in washington, d. C. For a grand bargain . Or the best we can hope for is little Small Victories here . You know, time will tell, time will tell. A lot of people in this country dont have faith anything will be done. I sure hope Small Victories would be better than nothing. If we can come to a grand bargain, get this done, it would benefit people for generations to come. Charles thank you very much. Madison, marianne, appreciate it. Ahead of the first democratic debate. Bernie sanders unveiling a plan to wipe out student debt. 45 million folks. If youre out there, you better listen up. The question, how do you pay for it . He said wall street can do it. He thinks wall street can raise 2 trillion out of wall street. A favorite professional investor will sound off why that is a huge overestimate. Well be right back. American people bailed out wall street. Now it is time for wall street to come to the aid of the middle class of this country. Driverless cars. All ground personnel. Or trips to mars. 4. 95. Delivery drones or the latest phones. 4. 95. No matter what you trade, at fidelity its just 4. 95 per online u. S. Equity trade. No matter what you trade, at fidelity the ai i want . Well, insurance its all about trust and speed. I need it to guide this analyst to customize Flood Coverage for this house. So that this team, can inform this couple, that their payment will arrive faster than this guy. Hey. So whether im processing claims due to this fine gentleman. car engine starting or suggesting premiums for this young lady. Ai can help change everything at this company. Expect more from ai. Ibm watson. But how do i know if im im getting a good deal . I tell truecar my zip and which car i want and truecar shows the range of prices people in my area actually paid for the same car so i know if im getting a great price. This is how car buying was always meant to be. This is truecar. Charles welcome back. The dow slightly higher today as investors wait a meeting between the president of china, United States, at end of the week, g20. This has President Trump continues pressure on the fed saying it doesnt know what it is doing. Well have more on that coming up. El dorado resorts buying caesars, a cash and stock deal, more than 17 billion t creates a casino giant with about 60 casinos in 16 states. It will be called caesars trade on the nasdaq. Toy story 4 came in slightly below expectations. Ranking as fourth highest animated film opening ever. It grossed 120 million. Expectations were closer to 150 million. Socialist senator Bernie Sanders unveiling another radical plan, this time to cancel all student debt. Yes i said all student debt. The plan actually calls for raising 2 trillion over 10 years paid for taxing wall street. This proposal completely eliminates student debt in this country and ends the absurdity of sentencing an entire generation, millenial generation, a crime for doing the right thing, going out getting higher education. Charles all right. His announcement goes even further than the plan released by Elizabeth Warren earlier this month which forefav gave debt higher than 100,000 a year. We have don luskin. The next plan out will give every College Student with debt 50 grand. Why dont you think this wont work . Numbers if you put out there, sort of looking at them, they dont look imposing,. 005 on trades. 001 on derivatives. Sounds like that is not a lot of money for wall street to bear . 2 trillion over 10 years, divide by 10, what is that 200 billion a year. That is a bigger tax cut than trumps 2017 tax cut for the entire United States of america this is tax hike. It is being put on single industry, all right . You may be collecting it a little nano slice at a time. Trading is 24 hours a day. There are a lot of little nano slices and it adds up. By the way i listened to the video short you teased coming into the segment, he is saying we bailed out wall street in 2018. So the least they can do is return the favor or Something Like that. Wall street was lent money in the Global Financial crisis and wall street paid back every penny. Nobody got their loans forgiven, right . It is worst possible analogy. Charles what about the words that he uses, right . These folks have been sentenced . You get sentenced for committing a crime. They have been sentenced, that some deliberate harm has been foisted upon folks who have gone to college and have college debt . How about the harm of people like my daughter who didnt go into debt for her education, we just paid for it in cash as we went along . When this Forgiveness Program happens, do we get all the tuition back . Talk about being punished for doing the right thing, we didnt even go into debt. If you go into debt all of sudden you get it back . My daughter is still in law school, i advise her next year. Were not writing checks to anybody. Were going into debt. We want it paid back. What democrats never forget or remember, people think of things like that, they game the system. All this is, this isnt going anywhere. We have 23 smurfs running against each other to try to run against President Trump. Theyre trying to outidiot each other. They are coming up with spectacular plans to get coverage like were giving them, charles. Maybe we should change the subject, not reward them for this . Charles you cant change the subject, hard, im not one that will presume who will win the next election, who can win, who cant win. We have president in office right now, 99 of the experts said he wouldnt win when he descended down the escalator. It is an issue. Affects one in more americans. Millenials seem to gravitate toward this could you tell a potential voter that this plan could harm the economy . Why would you tell the potential voter other than the fact it seems unfair that people paying their actual debt obligations that it would harm the United States . Well, things that are unfair harm the United States. You get addicted to things that are unfair. All the other plans by all the other democrats, Different Things are unfair. Here is something that is unfair. You want to forgive somebody . Why do it for people whom the debt gave them a College Education which now makes them the top earners . Why forgive them . Let them go out and exploit their education, have a higher path than the rest of us, repay it through their tax dollars like everybody else . Oh, wait. How about this . How about the ones who borrowed money to get their education, used that education to go to wall street. That was their dream. Oh, im sorry, Bernie Sanders just put wall street out of business. Now your education is useless. So i guess Bernie Sanders will have to find you a government job. Charles irony of this plan to your point, College Grads would end up paying more ultimately in their taxes than they would have if they just paid the Student Loans anyway. Don, thank you very. Appreciate it. Thank you. Charles breaking at this moment, irans foreign minister responded to new sanctions, tweeting out, donald trump is 100 right that the u. S. Military has no business in the persian gulf. Removal of its forces is fully in line with interests of us and the world but it is now clear that the bteam is not concerned with the u. S. Interests. They despise diplomacy and thirst for war. His comments come as treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin says that sanctions against zarif and others are coming later on this week. The dow meanwhile, extending their gains, inching closer to record territory. President trump says the stock market could be a lot higher if it wasnt for the fed who blew it. He compared the central bank to a stubborn child. Will the fed cave to the pressure . What does it mean for your investment . Do not go away. Iate the military family and it really shows. With all that usaa offers why go with anybody else . We know their rates are good, we know that theyre always going to take care of us. Charles folks, stocks are just sloshing around, all right . All eyes on big trade talks later in the week on friday and United States and china. This as President Trump is revamping pressure on the he fed to lower rates. In fact President Trump tweeted twice, once, think what it could have been if the fed gotten it right . Thousands of points on the dow. Gdp in 4 and 5s. They stick like a stubborn child, when we need rates cuts and easing to make up for what other counting are doing against us. Blew it. Jim awad and Kristina Partsinevelos at the new york stock exchange. Jim, i want to start with you. It feels like communiques, other actions, jay powell acknowledged maybe that december rate hike was a bridge too far. Maybe it was unneeded. There is no doubt that a lot of other people feel that way. Certainly wall street feels that way, saying 100 chance for a rate cut next month. What do you make of President Trumps relentless pressure on the Federal Reserve . It serves his political base. What can be ready to go to a rally in a tent in orlando, and telling the workers, laborers, lower, we could get lower Interest Rates if it werent for the fed and economy, it would grow stronger. Plays beautifully. Lacks credibility in the financial community. The fed is calling its about they can see it in retrospect. December was a mistake. You can understand if you were sitting in the meeting in december why they would have come to that conclusion. To their credit, theyre being flexible and adjusting charles you think they were okay in december . There was not any animosity . In December Talk of recession was really loud. Market was in freefall. By december 19th, felt like very least they would put the whole thing on pause . You are very early stages, very early stages of the change, the cusp in the relationship. And i could see how you got into the room there would have been a good, healthy debate which way to go but there are much more signs of weakness overseas than there were then. There are many more signs now that the u. S. Is slowing, that werent apparent then. More signs that u. S. Inflation is lower than expected than they were then. More signs that inflation overseas is lower than expected since then. And youve had a material decrease in rates overseas since then. Charles right. So the case is a lot stronger now to go for easing, rather than neutral or higher. Charles kristina, kashkari said we should have had 50 basis point cut at last meeting. What are the folks on the floor telling you. Typically wall street likes rate cuts. Most are watching soccer match between the u. S. And explain a lot were hoping we would see some type of result. Changes over last little while, Global Growth slowing down. If you saw the fed chair, looked at all the notes, remove the word patient, it is clearly showing or he is showing that is clearly more accommodative. He expects core inflation is below 2 this era of stockflation. Going forward, i think there potentially could be a rally. A lot of guys around me believe that too if this Interest Rate cut comes in july as expected. It is being priced into the market. Fears of recession seem to be pushed further down out in 2020 if anything. There is a lot of positives. I do think concerns of any type of tension going on with iran, could that escalate . If it is, maybe were not pricing it properly into the market right now. Talking about that when it comes to oilrelated stocks. Overall there is still an opportunity for growth should this rate cut come in july or september. Charles jim, were breaking out into new highs. They usually have long legs, last for long. Could we enter into the next phase of the rally . We have a runaway through the middle of 2020. Combination of lower Interest Rates worldwide. Getting Second Quarter profits, Third Quarter outlook in july. I dont think it will be disappointing. Logic would say that the tone of china, you will not get a deal anytime soon. Charles sure. The tone may improve. I wouldnt pay too much attention to the iranian situation. That will be background noise. Nobody wants a war. Modestly growing profits. Declining Interest Rates, sensible valuations. If there are no surprises, selfinflicted wounds, i think we make new highs through 2020. Charles jim awad, Kristina Partsinevelos, thank you very much. Here is a question for you. How much is the Online Activity worth to facebook, amazon . A new bill could force the Big Tech Companies to reveal the price of your data. We have details next.
