Reporter four oil tankers were damaged in attacks that the Trump Administration blamed on iran, proof said the president today of a faltering and increasingly desperate regime. We have 14 different sites of conflict, they were in charge of every single place. And they really are, theyre a nation of terror. And theyve changed a lot since ive been president. A former judge has ordered former National Security ad visor mike flynn to appear next week for his sentencing, amid speculation they may take a new, more aggressive approach. Gregg Catherine Herridge, thanks. More than 600 companies sending a letter to President Trump asking if he resolved the trade dispute with china, among them are walmart and target. They claim that the president s tariffs are hurting their companies and American Consumers claiming, and this is a quote, tariffs are an ineffective tool to change chinas unfair trade practices. The letter not mentioning the president s tariffs are actually working, and china is feeling the pressure. There are a number of tariffs that were put in place that we very carefully designed to put maximum pressure on china while causing minimum harm to u. S. Consumers. And the fact that we have really strong Consumer Spending today along with Inflation Numbers that are actually headed south, inflation is decelerating, suggests that our targeting has worked well. With japan President Donald Trump spoke by phone with japanese Prime Minister shinzo abe. This is the second phone call talking about trade, and yesterday the japanese trade delegation was here meeting with trade representative robert lighthizer. The japanese trade minister says the u. S. And japan will quickly conclude trade talks after the japanese elections on july 28th. He indicates the japanese are ready to reduce the tariffs on american agriculture in exchange for protections against possible auto tariffs. One note, gregg, on the mexican agreement the president said he had that second agreement, the secret one, with the mexicans. Well, the Mexican Government released that document today. And then theyre let go. 90 of them never show up for their hearings. They just vanish. Theyre gaming the system. Yep, absolutely. The figures ive seen before that announcement were low 90s, so 92, 93 literally disappear. Theyre given a court tate years in the future, finish date years in the future, and we never, ever see them again. This is why the president built his platform, the very first substantive platform of the maga agenda was Immigration Reform and Border Security. How is it that every other developed nation has more stringent and more efficacious Border Security and immigration policies than we do . Try emigrating to australia, to canada, try going into gregg, try going legally into mexico and see what happens to you and and how long you stay in jail. You know, this is a woman who is so oblivious to what america wants, she there giving press conferences thinking shes some kind of actress in a tarantino movie wearing a yellow leather bikers jacket, thinking shes in kill bill, stuttering and stammering through her words and calling the president a criminal minutes before shes meant to meet with him two weeks ago, calling him a criminal yesterday because hed engaged in a coverup . This is the man who actually the wants to stop the crimes. Think about it. Weve had people, felons, who have been deportedded five or six times from this country come back in and then murder another person. Its insanity. But, you know, you wont ever hear a democrat or, frankly, anybody in the left media which is redundant, left media [laughter] just saying. Theyll never give the president credit for it. No, they wont. And, quite frankly, i think that that has a lot to do with why they spend so much time talking about this nonsense about russia, because if they actually looked at the issues and they were actually talking about the issues, they would be even farther up the creek without a paddle. Because on the issues like the economy, donald trump is doing speck tack a particularly spectacularly. And the 2016 election, it was an unusual election, there was a lot of fisticuffs that a lot of us had never seen before, but the bottom line, at the end of the day that election was about issues. And donald trump was right on all of the issues, all of the important issues including the economy gregg right. And Hillary Clinton and the democrats were wrong. And i think thats a big reason why they spend so much time talking about this nonsense about russia. Gregg you know, patrice, people love to focus on social issues and other issues other than the economy. In the runup to a president ial election. But, boy, once they step into the booth and they close the curtain behind them, they vote their wallets, dont they . So its going to be very hard with a Strong Economy at the back of the president for a democrat to overcome that. Well, absolutely. I mean, theres a reason why theres so much attention in the media around social issues for, quoteunquote, womens issues, things around abortion, you know, health care pertaining to women, you know, paid leave, all these different issues. Its meant to, you know, distract really from a very good economy. And so, you know, whats interesting though is what you when people go into the voting booth, theyre asking is my life better today than it was four years ago. And, you know, just looking at the fact that restaurant spending by americans rose i guess. 7 indicates that people are getting out there and having dinner, theyre spending money, they have more Discretionary Income than they had before, and its showing up in ways that theyre, you know, treating tear family on a their family on a friday night for dinner, but theyre also going out on monday night for drinks. Thats fantastic for the economy. The challenge for democrats is why should voters change the course of the economy and the country if theyre doing so well. Gregg its great. I go to taco bell now more often [laughter] because thats my favorite restaurant. You know, charlie, the dnc has got another problem. Theyre about 6. 2 million in debt right now. Are the money woes, assuming they continue, going to hurt whoevers the nominee . Well, i think this is why theyre having to turn to socialism, because, obviously, capitalisms not working out for them very well. But, you know, i do think that, obviously, you know, ground game and all that kind of stuff, the stuff that that money pays for, is going to be crucial over the next year and a half. But, again, it all comes back to what is their big message. And, you know, Bernie Sanders embracing the term socialism, talking about socialism, talking about how proud he is of, to be a socialist, i just, i dont think that that works even in the democratic party. And if he winds up with the nomination if, you know, i just or any of the others with some of the other crazy ideas that are getting spouted out about, i just think its going to be really difficult. You know, ill just jump in here and say the question is when bernie would even get the nomination. I think theres still a lot of hurt feelings, a lot of angst from democratic voters who felt that, you know, they were shafted, frankly, in 2016 by the dnc and by a lot of the backroom dealings gregg well have to ask Donna Brazile about that the next time we talk to her. I want to ask you about the homelessness in my hometown of los angeles where i grew up and went to college. You know, i ohio i love it but not anymore. And gavin newsom, the new governor a democrat has now a 214 billion budget. Lets put up that graphic, because what jumps out at me when you look at this is 650 million for homelessness. But look at the 98 million, health care for illegals under the age of 26. Now, charlie, let me get this straight. So if youre a legal taxpaying citizen in california and you dont buy health insurance, you get taxed. But if youre an illegal, you get your health care for free, right . Thats a sweetheart deal, aint it . Its so incredible to watch these politicians play these games, and they are games. And they play the games, and its just like business on the border, you know, the idea that they dont want to seal the border. Well, you know, if we sealed the border, thats going to be the only way we stop these horrific tragedies where people die trying to cross the border like that 7yearold indian young girl from india who died in the desert trying to cross. The only humanitarian thing to do is build a wall and stop the illegal immigration. But these politicians, they dont care, they dont care about these people. They are glad to play with their lives as long as it allows them to make political points and amass political power so that they have all power that they can imagine, especially here in washington. Gregg and, you know, patrice, the l. A. Times focusing on mexicos homeless [laughter] and seemingly ignoring their own. Oh, its embarrassing. Its surprising to me that lawmakers in california were surprised that homelessness went with up 12 , i believe, in l. A. County over the past year . I mean, i think whats sad though is that youre talking about taking, i mean, i guess the governor is probably going to take a Budget Surplus and use it on Illegal Immigrants who should not be getting health care, bucking the federal law, frankly, just to provide that because they have an eye towards, you know, future elections. Theyre trying to build up, you know, potential voters who cant vote right now, but i guess they will eventually. And i think that does a disservice to taxpayers gregg it does. I respect the house leadership and the fact that they may be considering, you know, a lot of polls and political strategy in the way to figuring out what to do next. I think we are clearly there with the results of the special counsel team. There are so many witnesses who could provide important, essential testimony to congress that could only be done in the scope of an impeachment inquiry. I mean, isnt it embarrassing that a guy like Andrew Mccabe was even ever allowed in the halls of the fbi . Much less acting director . Oh, yeah, no, i agree with that. Particularly when you remember that he admitted in testimony before congress that what did they rely on to start the investigation of the president . What did they rely on to go to fisa court in washington to get a secret warrant to eavesdrop on the president . They used political Opposition Research, the steele dossier. I mean, that tells you that he was not qualified to be in that job with, that he would think that that justified opening up an investigation. Gregg and whats a amazing is the media, as we mentioned, you know, 72 of it dwelling on the president s remarks about Opposition Research from a foreign source. When the media seems to be absolutely ignoring the fact that Hillary Clintons campaign and the dnc paid for phony russian information and disinformation and fed it to fbi and the media for the sole purpose of influencing the 2016 election are. Right. And they hired a foreign intelligence agent to prepare that Opposition Research. And, yeah, no one says a word. By the way, on this claim that somehow talking to a Foreign Government or getting their advice or opinion or information that somehow thats a violation of federal Campaign Finance law, i mean, thats just not the case. What Foreign Governments cant do is they cant make financial contributions to candidates, they cant engage in independent expenditures. But just talking to an american candidate is not against the law. If it were, Hillary Clinton ought to be prosecuted because you may remember in the 2016 campaign she bragged about how many foreign leaders she had spoken to and how many of them supported her campaign. Gregg yeah. If you go to federal Election Campaign web site, federal Election Commission web site, it specifically says foreign nationals may volunteer their services right. Gregg on an american campaign. Finish and, you know, i heard an anchor on cnn say, oh, well, thats a thing of value. Information as youve written in the past has never been considered a thing of value in an Election Campaign. Right. Gregg its just not. No, its not. And those who say that providing information is a contribution to a campaign, you know what that would mean . That would mean that no president ial candidate could receive information, advice or opinions from anyone. Not just foreigners, but anyone in u. S. That wants to act as a voluntary adviser, and thats just an absurd notion. Gregg well, and Jonathan Turley at George Washington university took it a step further, and he said e if information is a thing of value, then every politician and their aides who have conversations with foreign nations would become subject to prosecution. But the media is so obtuse, they never bother to actually look up the law. No, thats true. And i said, i mean, that is just not the law. And, by the way, i say that as a former commissioner on the federal Election Commission. I mean, i had to interpret the statute and apply it, and that is just not a violation of the federal Election Campaign act. Gregg no, its not. So where do you think this is going with Hillary Clinton campaign, the dnc actually paying for which is different than just volunteering information paying for information, doesnt that establish its value . Well, yeah, it does. But so far we have not gotten any information that the fec is actually investigating that. And i find it pretty ironic, because i believe one to have democratic commissioners on the fec put out a press release just the other day saying, oh, yeah, yeah, this is potentially a violation of the law. And yet that same commissioner hasnt done anything [laughter] to initiate investigation against Hillary Clinton for paying a foreign intelligence agent to provide, to prepare that political Opposition Research. Gregg and thats the difference. Right. Gregg Hillary Clinton paid for it, and the trump campaign, the president s son, was simply willing to listen. And when the meeting happened at trump tower with the russian lawyer, no information was conveyed. But somehow thats a heinous crime, and everybody belongs behind bars. It is mindboggling. Well, look, i believe the president what he said during the campaign that he didnt want to leave people dying in the streets because of a lack of health care. As a christian, i believe in proid viewing for the neediest providing for the neediest in society. But i believe this is a way to do that without creating a socialistic, onesizefitsall Health Care Plan that completely destroys our Health Care System and also bankrupt our economy. And i believe once we get past this 2020 election and hopefully break the backs of the left, well be able to accomplish something that achieves that goal. Gregg let me get your reaction to something one of the Democratic Candidates said, pete buttigieg. He said if youre an evangelical and you support donald trump, then youre a hypocrite because trump is anathema to scriptures. What do you think . Well, i dont know what scriptures hes anathema to. He believes in religious liberty, which the scripture teaches. He believes in protecting rather than murdering the unborn, is what the scripture teaches. I dont know any policy the president has that is nonchristian. He is the most prochristian president that weve had in history. But pete buttigieg, i mean, certainly embraces the killing, the murder of children. I dont know how you reconcile that with both the Old Testament and jesus words thou shalt not kill. Gregg i think he was saying that because the president is trying to enforce strictly immigration, that thats unchristian. Is it . [laughter] no, its not unchristian. Look, the bible says that god has given the government the role of protecting society. I hear this all the time the even from the pope. Walls are unchristian. Well, if walls are unchristian, then gods unchristian, because he told nehemiah to build a wall around jerusalem to protect the city. The bible even says, gregg, theres going to be a wall in heaven. So if walls are ungodly, then god is ungodly. Gregg all right. Youre going to be in orlando, florida, on tuesday with the president when he sort of sets off his reElection Campaign. Tell us why youre going to be there. Well, heres why im going to be here. I believe this next election in 2020 is not only about giving the president a second term, i believe its about the survival of our nation. And heres why i say that, gregg. I just finished reading Michael Wolffs new book, and i know there are all kinds of problems in it, but there is one thing that you and even the president would agree with. He says that there was a coup ins grated against President Trump instigated against President Trump not because he was failing, but because he was succeeding. And thats exactly what is happening.
