So, when somebody, an eyewitness reported this, i was asked, was this true, i wasnt willing to lie. I did say yes, it was true. At the urging of my friends and family, my husband especially, he said, crime was committed against you, you should report it. That way the police have it. And i was going to report a sexual harrassment, when i talked to the detective, it is a sexual assault. Its a misdemeanor. It was a crime. It was committed. The law takes it very seriously. Melissa because i dont want to, so hard in this day and age when so many people come forward to say things that happen, but theyre not equal . When we hear about other assaults happened at other women to the level of rape, i think some people question, does this rise to the level of having Police Involved . And you say your civil you were surprised when they said it was assault . Absolutely. And this is something that i really want to bring to the forefront. One of the reasons why i am talking about it today, not just that it was something disgusting committed against me. This happens all to often in political and powerful fields. We see it in the arts field. We see weinstein has gone down from multiple allegations that will turn out to be true. Weve seen al franken who had to resign because of this. Powerful people are abusing their positions of power. One thing they have been allowed to do this, because women and men think, oh, it is not a big deal. It happens all the time. It has happened to me before. I should allow this and we should not allow this because like you said there are more serious things happen but it always starts with something the woman says no, man or child, and someone says no, this person keeps going. How do you respond to those two criticisms . The first criticism is indeed i was at a party, a private party and i did indeed, you know, pat somebody that was close to me in that instance on the bottom. The one big difference is when he said stop, he said take it easy, i stopped. I didnt continue to hurt him or hit him or pressure him or say, come on you were asking for it or anything like that. Because one thing is we all make mistakes, but when someone says no, no, means no. Melissa do you feel like you assaulted him . I didnt assault him. But if he takes it that way, i mean i did touch him and once i said no, once he said no, i stopped. And that is a big difference. It is one thing, we might grab a friend or put a hand on someone, do something playful, again people make mistakes. But when someone says stop, very clearly as i told corey, i said stop, knock it off, i could report you for Sexual Harassment i looked him in the eye said it was not okay. He said, go ahead. I work in the private sector, and continued to hit me. That is where it goes to assault. Melissa i want to get to the question. Are you going to run . I want to Say Something too, this is important issue for women to speak up. When it happens to you need to tell them stop and you need to call the cops. I am possibly running for congress.
