Before we get to the breaking news about the Text Messages loaded against President Trump, the democrats now say yes, they can seize back control of the house and senate given the doug jones victory. Okay here is the map and you dont have your white board, i wish you did. The republicans need to defend 24 house seats so the democrats dont take control. Theyve got 23 house seats that the dems can basically get right some. Well there are 23 that Hillary Clinton carryied but liz in those districts . She carried those districts in 2016 but first of all, some of them were narrow victories for hillary. The key question is how many of those 23 republicans in those vulnerable districts run for re election. In an incumbent runs for re election then by and large they come back and if they dont take it seriously and let somebody fresh and new jump in generally incumbent seats them. Liz i mean the democrats are capitalizing on the republicans have growth from tax cuts its a heck of a race and weve got republicans vulnerable i think in nevada, arizona and tennessee on the senate side. Well i dont think tennessee. The democrats have got a good candidate in tennessee, but he hasnt been on the ballot in ten years. Well see how good he is particularly when he has to identify as a national democrat. Republicans have an excellent prospect in arizona who will take that seat. Congresswoman Martha Mcsally an a10 Fighter Pilot and then nevada is the seat that is at risk the only one of the eight republican seats up next year which was won by Hillary Clinton on the other hand there are 10 democrats up next year in states that were won by donald trump. One of them by eight points, one by 18, one by 19, one by 22, one by 24 and West Virginia trump won by 42 and then four states won by one point and those states depending on the quality liz its only just beginning weve got 21 or 24 house, excuse me democrat and republicans retiring so this is really mixed bag right now. Lets go through one text from peter strzok to his colleague lisa page, a senior fbi lawyer who alleged they were having an affair, it reads august 15, 2016 i want to believe the path you throughout for consideration in andys office is believed to be andy mccabe, that theres no way he, meaning trump, gets elected but im afraid we cannot take that risk. Its like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before youre 40. Okay peter strzok is one of 25 agents on the case. Is this investigation tainted . First of all he wrote those in 2016. The investigation did not begin until this year. When as in the course of an Inspector General liz but he was on the Hillary Clinton probe right . When in the course of an Inspector General review of the Hillary Clinton investigation, they discovered these emails bob mueller did the thing which he needed and had to do which was he immediately fired him. He was one of the top agents of the fbi who suddenly demoted to Human Resources and as to his potential mistress ms. Page, she is gone. So mueller did this last summer. No fanfare, no public announcement. But as soon as they found these messages, mueller did what any investigator and any special council would do in that situation, i hope and that is to immediately say that this is a person who has no role in our investigation and not only that acted in an inappropriate manner and is being in essence fired. His career is over. He was a top flight investigator in the fbi. Liz on the hillary email server, it shows intent . I mean judge is saying thats about protecting their own personal job that that email was about that, nothing more. Well, i dont know. I havent read all of them but it seems to me it shows an un seemly side of the fbi and an unseemly side of this particular investigation. Liz lets get to the sound bite, republicans ripping into rod rosenstein, basically the allegations are theres fbi bias look at chairman goodlot expressing concern. Lets roll tape. Liz do you think mueller is safe or gets fired what do you think . I think its a huge mistake to fire mueller. Mueller demonstrated he found the strzok emails shown to him and were fired to him. I think he does need to be careful because of the 15 lawyer s that have been identified as being part of his investigation, nine have previously given Democratic Campaign contributions. Liz one worked for the Clinton Foundation right . Right, but these are pros and he has demonstrated so far that when he finds things that are inappropriate like peter strzok s emails, he acts decisive. Liz the pressure is on Robert Mueller though. Absolutely and ultimately we will only have confidence in this investigation if he does be concerned about this. He basically congratulated lisa page after clinton clenched the Democratic Party nomination saying this congrats that a woman nominate nominated for president in a major party and he wrote that within days of the fbi then director james comey clearing hillary of criminal wrongdoing right . People are entitled to have an opinion but it strikes me that if youre involved in the lead investigator in this and helping you make decisions about who gets put under oath and what order you take liz and what is the charge from gross negligence to extrem you ought to be very careful. Those people ought to be very careful about demonstrating any bias even in private conversation. Charlie well it was a bid ding war up until a couple days ago and disney won the bid. Kind of interesting things here, what we have is a sizable break up fee in this deal. We dont know exactly what that is so if the deal doesnt go through and its going to receive present it intense anti trust scrutiny from the Justice Department if it doesnt go through, fox is going to be paying disney a substantial amount of money. Now exactly what that is we dont know yet but its apparently coming as the details come out its coming in the next i would say 12, 24 hours. I think by tomorrow morning this thing is essentially going to get leaked or be announced. What we have here is that the deal is expected, its a stock deal and its valuing at about 40 a share so the deal is expected to value fox at just about 40 a share. Where we are trading right now emac . Thats a pretty significant premium over where it is now. Do you have a stock price for 21 c . Liz were going to check in just a second. Charlie that seems to be a pretty significant premium from where it is now and the market afterhours hasnt react reacted that much to this. Disney is expected to pay as much as 29 a share for fox assets and its expected to be announced thursday. You know, it will be interesting to see how this thing is looked at in washington. I will say this. A lot of people, a lot of analysts on the street believed that this deal that we could not sell vast chunks of ourselves to disney which is essentially a horizontal sale youre piling on top of disneys assets, stuff that they already have like movie studios and tv networks that antitrust regulators have been against allowing that to happen and people thought because of what they did with timewarner and at t opposing that deal which is a deal they generally do not oppose a vertical thing where you just matching distribution with contact that they would go hog wild on us and disallow it and what happened is and we reported this over the last couple weeks is the Justice Department signaled just because at t could not happen doesnt mean ours couldnt happen and when that happened when the Justice Department came out with this you saw the sort of bidding war between comcast, disney, i think sony was in there for a while, verizon may have poked around that really started heating up and it looks like disney came up with the better deal. It will be interesting to see where some of our people end up on this. Will we have a board seat, presumably we will, well be a major shareholder in disney, James Murdock the ceo of 21st century fox, does he move there and a lot of speculation that he might so it will be interesting to see how the two Companies Work and in a sense, if theyre buying our stock and we hope some of their stock, i mean, this is kind of an interesting, this is an Interesting Partnership in many ways, so were going to have to see how the dust settles. Also, im really like to know how big t breakup fee is on this because if justice does turnaround and nix this deal, i think were going to be paying a lot of money to them. Peter strzok is one of 25 right . The point the broad point is that most people in federal government are in a Government Union many of them voted for Hillary Clinton if you look at the union. Sure. Liz basically its up to james comey and the leadership to either act on getting rid of peter strzok or not. So in other words, if government workers like fbi workers have their finances and theyre not choir boys but its up to the leadership. Im not sure what you mean by criminal action here. Well here is where you get to draw the line. We wouldnt know about these texts without the Inspector General already looking into possible wrongdoing with the Hillary Clinton investigation. This is not investigation of what peter strzok did during the russia investigation. This goes back to was there wrongdoing with how jim comey and the fbi and people like peter strzok who may be one of 25 but was one of 25, liz, who was chosen to edit jim comeys testimony who is the person who changed his testimony and saying what Hillary Clinton did was from grossly neglect, so the criminal activity becomes this is where it becomes criminal. Everything is a trump failure when trump does something thats good like saying that jerusalem is israels capitol and turns out a bunch of muslims decide to pursue violence in sweden and thats somehow trumps fault when theres some sort of economic bump but not to the medias liking, no matter what happens its trumps fault and that gets tire some which is why the American Public basically tuned out the media when it comes to their assessments of trumps failings. The American Public know that the economy is good and that trump has had a lot to do with that and the American Public know that a lot of the bad things that happen in life have nothing to do with the president of the United States at all. I think barkly is painting with a pretty broad bush when you suggest everyone voted for roy moore is some sort of hick and that language is what led to President Trump in the first place of dismissal of everyone who votes for a bad flawed republican candidate i wouldnt have voted for as somehow backwards or stupid. There are a lot of people voted for roy moore because they felt doug jones would be a course senator for the state of alabama in terms of policy priorities. Ill disagree with the moral calculus but to dismiss everybody who voted for roy moore is counter productive.
