The other person you need to Pay Attention to in all of this is ron johnson. He is one of two senators who are pushing hard for the deduction for passthrough income to be raised from 17. 4 to about 20 that would be a deal we are told which they are working on and getting close to. One way to pay for that is by removing the deductions that businesses have for state and local Tax Deductions. Individuals, well lose the state and local Tax Deduction shuns but business get them. Rand paul on foxnews. Com, i dont know if you call it oped, maybe editorial or comment which he said he will vote for the tax reform bill as it stands. He says it is not perfect but in its current form he would vote for it. So where does that leave us . Well, mark short, who advises the president had this to say earlier today on fox business. Of course, were working to satisfy all the members of the senate to get them the most yes votes as possible. We feel very good about where we are in this process. The members are looking to give us a yes vote because they understand how important it is to get tax relief for middle income families. Reporter keep in mind senator grassley was on with neil cavuto and talking about in ideal world and do what they call preconference. Members of the senate as well as houseworking behind the scenes crafting amendments for the senate bill so that once it passes the senate, if it passes, the house could adopt it without actually going to Conference Committee t would be much faster to move everything that way. Good to see you. Good to see you. Trish i know youre a big believer in this. It is coming down to the wire. Are you able to get it done . We certainly are. Were wellpositioned, trish. As mark short indicated in the clip just played we feel very good about the fact all these senators are working through important issues but want to get to a point where we do deliver the American People the greatest tax reform in 31 years. The systems broken. Businesses are not able to grow, create jobs, raise wages. On individual side it is complex. It is kind of backwards in many ways. Doesnt help the average American Family certainly. That is with were focusing on. Were very encouraged because nine leading economists in the country sent treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin a letter. It appeared in the wall street journal, where they confirmed what weve been saying all along, that you experience significant Economic Growth with what were trying to do with tax reform in front of congress right now. That helps every american. That helps businesses grow. Individuals succeed and expand economic opportunity, trish. So more people benefit from the american economy. Weve been stuck at suboptimal growth. We are changing changing that. Everybody wins with that. Trish i think you have a good shot at it. I like the idea of Corporate Taxes going down, tony. I made that very clear. Something im concerned about is the whole state and local issue n my heart, 1000 percent, i believe there is no reason any state in america should have to sub today size another state in any shape or form, that said, the goal is to get the economy going. If the people can not deduct state and local taxes in states where they have the high local taxes, what effect does that have on Consumer Spending and overall gdp youre looking for . First of all what we get in terms of growth and investment on the business side is expansive. That is exactly what you saw confirmed by these economists. It will create the potential for significant Economic Growth. On the individual side, trish, im sympathetic, im a new yorker, i understand. Remember were talking about six states, essentially highest income earners get to deduct high state taxes. That is not really the responsibility of the federal government to subsidize. In order for us to really expand the base we need to get rid of a lot of these kind of deductions and at same time dont have the conversation in the absence of the fact reducing rates. So the vast majority of people losing that deduction will still have lower taxes because were reducing their rates. Were expanding child tax credit. Were doubling the standard deduction, making first 24,000 of income not taxed if youre a family. Were getting rid of the alternative minimum tax which is a backward tax. The vast majority of people who even lose these deductions still get a good tax cut because it is not up to the government to subsidize high taxed states. Trish look at senate proposal. We have seven different brackets. President promising three. Why seven out of the senate. Do you think you can negotiate that down to something reasonable . I think we should notice all those brackets are reductions in current rate, number one. The house has three rates, senate has seven. This is the process. Congress has to figure out what they want to confer, jointly say is part of tax reform. Make no mistake you have to pay lower taxes and fair, simpler tax code so everybody wins, trish this has been the problem for no tax reform for 30 years. Very few people are benefiting. If youre a high earner in any state that has local and state taxes you will not win on this. You will pay a whole lot more. People in new york, new jersey, california, hey, down in texas they deduct their property taxes. Theyre not going to be able to do that anymore, tony under this plan. Trish, six states have the problem. Youre talking about 44 other states that dont necessarily have that deduction available to them. Were sensitive to that. There is a version. Trish there is house property taxes. There is version, makes it sure, at end of the day, very few high income earners and high taxed states who may not get the same tax cut that a middle income family gets and we mate it the point. Trish highest earners are paying all the taxes, tony. Sorry, that is the reality. You have to give it to people that actually pay taxes. The vast majority of americans are going to get a significant tax cut here and loss of that deduction because they live in hightaxed state. Complain to the State Government that gives you 9 income tax in new york and 13 in california. The federal government is giving morphine drip as a subsidy. We need to trish i know that needs to change. I have a suggestion for you. Steve forbes was on the show just last week, he suggested, what if they did rolling it in after twoyear time period . Gave the states opportunity to vote out big spenders, before just rite out the start . Etf been sensitive to mitigations. Congress is considering a lot of different things. Trish do you think it will happen before yearend . I think tax reform will happen before yearend. Trish all right. Holdinging you to it. Tony, thanks. In this particular case as you heard me working it out with tony i did, i did. Trish not everybody is getting a tax cut. A couple things missing in your conversation, not yours specifically, but first gets rid of alternative minimum tax which takes away some local and state Tax Deductions that had been used before. That is number one. Number two, the whole purpose of this not to reduce taxes but get Economic Growth and pay more in taxes not because their tax rates are higher, because they earn a lot more. Very highest income earners, when you look at incidents of what happens when the Corporate Tax is cut, they will be beneficiaries of this tax cut dramatically, believe me when i tell you. If we drop the highest rate on corporations from 35 to 20, that will mean a huge appreciation in the stock market which impacts these people very directly. Trish that is true. Trish they have a lot of money in the market. One would think, im looking at dow, 235,981, i had predictions of 25,000 if this actually happens, art. It would be a boost to corporations and therefore a boost to high earners portfolios. Yes it, really would. That is very true. Lead to prosperity, less welfare, less payments. It will lead to higher tax revenues, smaller deficits, i mean all of this will happen if we go through it. Trish thats if. The question you will run into is, another, well, health care situation, right . Obama repeal and replace, which, was promised and didnt happen because theres a breakdown in the Republican Party. Yeah. Trish do you think theyre going to be able to coalesce and come together around this one . I think they will come together. What do i know . That is not my specialty. What i really do think, i dont know what the democrats strategy is. I know a lot of democrat senators would like to vote for a bill like this, but they really would, but they stick together to basically boycott trump. To me that is not good governance. I dont know how they plan to use this obstructionist strategy to win politically. It is true, the republicans if they dont get it over the goal line that will be a big black eye for the republicans, but the reason they didnt get over the foal line not one democrat voted to repeal aca or for the tax cut. They have themselves. If they stuck together and they, played as one team, then they wouldnt have to go and be looking for handouts from the dems. I agree with you. It should be bipartisan. Well the dems should vote normally. Theyre people just like all the rest of us. They should vote what is good policy what is not good policy i understand partisanship, all that, this type of obstructionist stuff is just crazy. The way the dems passed the aca. That is not the right way to be, trish. Trish what can you say to fiscal conservatives and some dems out there, that say were worried about how much money this is going to cost . Im very worried about that too. I dont think this will cost us any other money. Well see higher tax revenues. Not lower tax revenues. Well see the deficit falling, not rising as a result of this. One thing that generates tax revenues is Economic Growth period. If you look at it under kennedy, in the gogo 60s, we had surpluses. In clinton with huge boom under bill clinton and ronald reagan. Huge surpluses, in 74 we had bipartisan ignorance. Economic growth is only way to balance budget and create tax revenues. You cant balance a budget on backs of those unemployed, leaving your jurisdiction or not working full capacity. You just cant, trish. You need growth. Trish we need it, we need it bad. Thats it. Trish if we get it, do you think 3, 4 or 5 . 5 , yes i do. You know im that way. Trish i agree with you, actually. Last night english filed a lawsuit. This morning at 7 30 mulvaney showed up to the cfpb for first day on the job. There you go. Shortly after he sent out a email, which reads, said, please disregard any instructions you received from miss english and in her presumed capacity as acting director. If you receive Additional Communications in any form, related in any way to the function of her actual or presumed official duties such as not personal, please inform the general counsel immediately. After that, mulvaney briefly spoke to reporters. She sent out a email purporting to be acting director. I said, we disagree with that as the administration. At that point he put in english as deputy director, thus setting up the showdown. The white house called that move a stunt. Important to keep in mind in all of this, what were talking about right now, is a temporary position. President trump still has to name a nominee. Were nearing the end of a packages time in the fulfillment center. Youre looking right now at this Conveyor Belt obviously. You can see straight ahead, this red light which is essentially a scanner. And that is the last place that a box sees before it goes into the loading deck which are to the left and out to the truck and then, in fact, to your doorstep. So as far as some of the dollar estimates were looking for. Most retail analysts say were going to hit 6. 6 billion. But from early indications, trish, we may surpass that number. That theyre being overworked, extraordinarily overworked, and in many cases youre seeing a lot of robots take over, because amazon is learning you cant work people that hard but you can work the robots. Are you talking to workers there . Is it difficult reporter i have spoken with some workers and the, extra seasonal workers. I want to underline a report youre talking about came from a newspaper in the uk. And i did go to one of the managers here and i asked him about it. I will read part of the statement that the company gave us, trish, and it is that amazon provides the safe and positive work place with competitive pay and benefits from day one. They were talking about that particular center that you mentioned which is in the uk and they say the majority of exceptional requests and, the implication here that is for holiday time had been accepted. So amazon has responded to that report by that uk newspaper called the mirror with that statement. From what ive seen, just firsthand experience there seems to be a mix what i call man and machines. Lots less in way of regulation and making it easier for business and promise of tax cuts. Youre right, the tangible part is lower regulations. It has been stifling for Small Business growth, for business formation in the United States. What a shame we got to that point in this country. Here is the good news. It is going the other way under President Trump. Here is the other thing, the intangible part. I really believe this too, trish. I dont think we pay enough attention. The belief that we can grow. The belief that i can do better. I am going to make more. I am going to invest more. It is selfperpetuating in many ways. What were in the economy is Virtuous Cycle where belief begets belief and growth. It is fantastic. The United States has been, i would say decades, im not being partisan because i think republicans have been as bad as the democrats. Weve been totally taken advantage of in terrible trade agreements primarily to china to the detriment of american worker. We basically exported american wealth to china, through awful deals that were great for globalists, one percenters. Trish companies and stockholders. But terrible, terrible for american workers. The republican has huge opportunity. They were handed the house, they were handed the senate and they were handed the white house and the foal was to get some meaningful policy reforms done. They blew it when it came to repeal and replacing obamacare. And they now have once again another opportunity to get some Economic Reforms done, in the way of tax reform. The president wants to see lower Corporate Taxes, lower individual taxes and gerri willis is joining me right now with more on this he has this golden opportunity, rather the republicans, i should say have this golden opportunity, but challenge is can they get out of their own way. Everybody says they can get it done but im not convinced youre questions are on target. Republicans as you say they had a lot of opportunity to get things done, to get ahead on a lot of issues and theyre not taking it. There are a lot of questions out there. Trish, you raised the most important ones. Is everybody getting a tax cut in this . Is he have one being treated equally . I think not. Some folks will sigh their tax bill go up. That raises a question, is that the way tax reform should be handled . This is my problem with it. Im all for tax cuts. Corporations should pay lower taxes. No reason we should be paying more than canada, for goodness sakes, or numerous other countries for that matter. Right. Trish we should be as competitive as possible. If you are cut taxes you have to cut taxes for people that are paying taxes. This is where it gets kind of funny because the democrats would have you believe this is a giveaway to the wealthy. In fact high earners, in states that have already high taxes at state and local level will wind up paying a whole lot more. Youre talking about new york, new jersey, illinois, california, these states. These blue states. This is why the democrats are up in arms. This document looks increasingly political when you see burden put on High Net Worth folks in these blue states. At end of the day you have to wonder wow, are we penalizing people that didnt vote for trump . That is the question theyre asking next election. Trish they might be. Look. Therefore texas doesnt get some kind of a subsidy by the federal government but new york does . Look, new york, has a bad fiscal house, considering how much they need to charge in taxes. Same for new york city and plenty of other places. That said, gerri, i wonder if your goal is to grow the economy and you start penalizing states like new york, new jersey, california and new york account for roughly a quarter of the nations gdp, are you going to have to have some unintended consequences you dont see as much as you want . I have sympathy for that argument, people in washington would like lower taxes in states like new york and california. That is really nice, but a, do you really think that will happen, and b, if it does, how long will it take . What is the Collateral Damage in the meantime . You will have to pay a lot less tax. But well have tremendous, i think well have great receptivity. We had great spirit and i will tell you, the republican senators were up. If we win well get some Democratic Senators joining us. If we dont win, they wont be joining us, you understand that. But if we win, i think well probably have a bipartisan bill, meaning a number of people are going to come over but im not so interested in that. Were just interested getting it passed. Again, it will be the biggest tax reduction in the history of our country. It will bring jobs. It will bring a lot of income coming into our country buying product, et cetera. I think it is doing well. [inaudible]. Hedge fund owners urge. I think it will benefit mostly everybody. It will benefit people looking for jobs more than anything else. Were giving great incentives, well bringing back into this country probably in excess of 4 trillion, 4 trillion. That is outside of the country, right now because of our tax laws cant come back in. And, we will be bringing back at least i think number will be substantially higher. But at least 4 trillion, which will immediately be put to work in this country.
