It was a little over 11 years since we lost him and as a gold star mother, you learn ways to cope, you learn ways to manage the grief, but that grief never goes away. You always have an empty spot there and i miss him deeply every day and some days are harder than others but very proud of that young man and the choice that he made to give his life. Liz i mean, its such a terrible loss for your family and for the country to lose a gentleman like your son. What did you think of what happened with the president and cnn airing this phone call . What is your reaction to that . You know, i am disgusted by those that choose to use the gold star families and to me thats despicable what the representative wilson from florida has done in this circumstance. That phone call was intended to be a private conversation between a commanderinchief and a widow who is in the early stages of grieving and for her to use that she has made it numerous statements how she hates trump and shes tried to attack him so to use that again, to me thats despicable and what general kelly said was an amazing press conference he did yesterday. I was in tears as i watched him expose the vulnerability of los ing his own son. And the things he talked about there and for her to come back and then say oh, hes just trying to keep his job, you know hes just trying to cater to trump that is even more disgusting and to hear her say oh, im a rock star. Ill have to go tell my kids that the president is talking about me. Does that not expose that personality of its all about me here we have lost four more of our amazing warriors and all shes talking about is me and the president s talking about me thats unconsciousable. Liz you know, and she has been an opponent of trump saying hes on the brink of impeachment and she boycotted the inauguration. Period its over it should be finished and that woman should have come back that next morning and said i am so sorry and yet, we did not hear that from her and thats how she, you know she talks about being a rock star. Well the rock part might be hard because i think her heart is hard as a rock. How can you be that heartless and cold . Ive dedicated my life since my son died through our foundation to make sure our gold star families are honored to make sure the sacrifices that their loved ones made are never forgotten and a typical week for me is 80 hours a week but i do understand the sacrifice. I choose to do that for our families and i choose to do retreats for them and we have a house in arizona called the hero s hope home where families can come stay and we just love and pam per on them. Thats the philosophy. Thats the attitude we should have as americans. My son wrote an amazing letter about two and a half weeks before he was killed and you can go to our website and read that letter but he ended that letter with, to my family and friends do me a favor, pass on the kindness, the love, the precious gift of human life.
