President trump trying to work with the dc swamp deal making during a round of golf with both senator Lindsey Graham and rand paul this weekend. Agreeing with the president saying the blame lies in their court if they dont get tax reform done. If we dont cut taxes and eventually repeal and replace obamacare, then were going to lose across the board in the house in 2018 and all of my colleagues running in primaries in 2018 will probably get beat. It will be the end of Mitch Mcconnell as we know it. If were successful, Mitch Mcconnells fine. If were not, were all in trouble. Cheryl well, President Trump continuing his dc press. Having lunch with battle Senate Majority leader mcconnell exiting that meeting with what seemed to be a better outlook account has been weve been friends for a long time. We are probably now despite what we read, were probably now, i think, is at least as far as im concerned, closer than ever before. We have the same agenda. Weve been friends and acquaintances for a long time. We talk frequently. We dont give you a readout every time we have a conversation. But frequently, we talk on the weekends about the issues that are before us. Cheryl former Trump Campaign spokesperson Katrina Pearson is with us. Were going to have her in a moment. But first, im going to go to washington correspondent, with all of thelies afternoon at the white house, blake. Pretty rackable moment there in the rose garden just a little while ago as President Trump was standing there alongside the Senate Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell where earlier the president was not too pleased with the performance of mcconnell as it relates to not being able to repeal and replace obamacare. But now as tax reform with the number one priority, those two met at the white house, alongside the Vice President and as you played the clip there, hey, look, our relationship is just fine going forward. It was interesting from mcconnell and ryan as both of them says today that the goal is to get tax reform done at some point this year. However, standing alongside mcconnell in the rose garden, President Trump acknowledged the past complexities of tax reform and talked about it being done in 2018 possibly as an if. I would very much like to see it being done this year. We wont go a step further. If we get it done, thats a great achievement. It took years for Reagan Administration to get it done. Ive been here for months. At one point the president was asked about an interview that he gave with forbes that was published last week in which the president said that he would be putting forth at some point in the near future an Economic Development bill. When asked about it today, the president didnt reveal any details. Trump im going to be surprising some people with an Economic Development bill later on but i havent even told mitch because i want to focus on tax cuts and some other things right now. Im going to be developing an Economic Development bill that will put us so far ahead of other countries, you will not even believe it. Now, cheryl, while the president says his relationship with Mitch Mcconnell is quote outstanding, at an earlier event at the white house while meeting with his cabinet, he made it very clear that senate republicans, they feel that theyre the ones fault for getting obamacare repealed and replaced. And theyre the ones that are quote not getting the job done. He said that and then had connell over to talk about lunch and you saw that in press conference for 45 minutes. And the question we had at that meeting was how awkward is this lunch going to be . Yeah. Interesting. Blake burman at the white house. Of course, a busy day there. Well, former Trump Campaign spokesperson Katrina Pearson is here to react to all of this. Is the the deal maker in action, katrina . He didnt exactly give mcconnell a path today. But they did have a lengthy discussion and a lengthy press conference, as you just saw. Well, of course they did, cheryl. And, you know, this is absolutely the donald trump that we all know and love. The deal makers, the businessman, the visionary. And that was on full display today. And hes right. This absolutely has to get done. There were expectations by the voters and himself coming into this position that republicans had a plan because believe it or not, there is a platform. So why dont we just stick with that to start. And we need to get the job done. And at the end of the day, whatever happens, cheryl, this is not going to fall on President Trump. This is going to fall on this republican senators who have been in office for decades. Some three decades that cant seem to get the job done. Its going to be unacceptable. Well, katrina, you know President Trump very well. And thats what i want to ask you. He does said especially on twitter that he felt the republicans have failed him. How down a deal maker with somebody that you feel has failed you over and over . How do you do that . Well, i think hes showing it today by continuing to have these talks. Continuing to have these discussions. I mean, the president himself has worked with this congress in very good faith based upon the terms that they all complained on. And there are this like steve bannon and the rest of us who have been fighting the same people for the last decade knowing that they were just going to kick the can down the road and really run out the clock. And thats whats happening here. And so im glad to see the president is frustrated with how this has been going because it doesnt make any sense for things to continue as they were, considering the election as historic as it wa w. Liz and bannon declaring allout war on the gop. So President Trump was speaking at his Cabinet Meeting today, and he said that obamacare is dead. I want you to listen to this, katrina. Obamacare is finished. Its dead. Its gone. Its no longer you shouldnt even mention. Its gone. There is no such thing as obamacare anymore. It is a and i said this years ago. Its a concept that couldnt have worked. Cheryl so health care and insurance stocks, which have been gone through the roof after. By triple digit percentage increases since obamacare was enacted. Was this payoff to Insurance Companies by the last administration, katrina . Well, of course it was. Any time your company is going to thrive with profits, including government subsidies, of course your stocks are going to go up. This are guaranteed, and thats exactly what happened. And thats why the president has been adamant since day one whereas most president s would have given up by now if the congress failed multiple times. But this one isnt. This one is committed, he is concerned that hes going to continue to fight for the people, and as he just mentioned in the opening, an economic package. So hes going far beyond what congress has ever done before in looking at the future of our country and for our children. Cheryl mentioned that economic package is going to be. But i want to ask you about House Majority leader nancy pelosi. She says shes not going to leave her post. Why . She wants to defend obamacare. Listen to her. I think we do have a great array of talent, and i have promoted it all along the way. Its up to the caucus to select its next leadership. I enjoy the support. And youre not going anywhere . Well, im here as you know, is very important to me. And i when the president became president , i saw the threat to it. I said ive got to take care of the Affordable Care act, and thats my mission. I think im a great legislature. I know the budget, and i dont believe that i have self promotion is a terrible thing. But clearly, someone has to do it. Cheryl yeah, but heres the thing, katrina. Is there anything left . President trump many experts, analysts have said this things imploding no matter what. You know what . Keep her. Let her stay. I want to keep her around for as long as possible. Please let her defend something that exists. Something that cost the democrats the house, cost them the senate, and cost them the presidency. Doesnt it seem strange to you . It does seem strange. And quite frankly, i think whats happening here is the court of Public Opinion and also social media. We have this big, like, windstorm after the news broke of this indiscretion, and then everyone is just calling this even a change. Org petition for him to leave the academy. So i think moving for there, we have to set a clear mark here to say anyone who violates any of the principles needs to leave the academy. And, you know, Harvey Weinstein is definitely one of those people who should not be there. Cheryl well, i would agree that woody allen and shouldnt be there either. Warned of a witch hunt over weinstein. Seeming as though he was blaming him. And then received a lot of backlash on social media. And then he clarifies and said mr. Weinstein is a sad, sick man. He has been accused, just to be clear, everybody. Of sexually assaulting his own daughter. I think at this point, i really dont know how Harvey Weinstein is the straw that broke the camels back in hollywood, but im glad there is a discussion around it. Now, with that being said, i think there needs to be a deep look in our society and not just hollywood of what we find acceptable. And i think overnight when we saw the me too Hashtag Campaign going on about Sexual Assault and harassment, it really spoke to the society and worldwide, and i really think hollywood should take a deep look because people are buying into the movies, its the entertainment culture and at the same time, this is the behavior that they find acceptable, they should really, again, take a deep look at that and getting Harvey Weinstein out of the Motion Picture association, like, great. But i mean, really, look at some of the other members and wonder can we do better . Because i think we can. Well, basically, fans should is vote with their wallets. I havent watched a woody allen movie, ladies, in years. Seriously. Absolutely. Cheryl lets switch gears to the clinton administration. This is hillary, saying that theyre not going to return the 250,000 that they received in donations from weinstein following the accusations of sexual harassment. And even they said the money has been already been spent. Listen to Hillary Clintons most recent comments on weinstein. I was just sick. I was shocked, i was appalled. Would you have called him a friend . Yes. I probably would have. He donated money to you directly and indirectly. Uhhuh. Would you give the money back . Well, theres no one to give the money back to. What other people are saying, what my former colleagues are saying is theyre going to donate it to charity. And of course im going to do that. I will give 10 of my income to charity every year. This will be part of that. Theres no doubt about it. Cheryl kind of backtrack a little bit and remember, we didnt hear for a long time from Hillary Clinton over her friend Harvey Weinstein in these first few days. Yeah. And i think whats interesting here is that theyre saying the foundation is saying between 100,000 to 250,000 has already been spent. But, you know, i think we should broaden the sculpt here and bin laden. Theres ten members in the Democratic Party who have theyre going to donate their money to charity and sometimes just donating money besides speaking out about the transgression is enough. This sort of reminds me when we had the las vegas shooting, we had a lot of people in the gop saying we felt sorry for the victims. But then they took over 5 million from the nra. One of them, richard bird. So, again, we have to look at our politicians and talk about what are we going to do when we get money from individuals or entities which perform nefarious behaviors. And right now, i dont think clinton is stepping up to the plate. She needs to do more. But i do commend those ten democrats who have said theyre going to donate to charity. Cheryl its interesting you say that as a democrat yourself. Its interesting, ashley, since the election cycle, and she was just bringing this up. Wendy was. He has donated to the party about a Million Dollars in his own name. In addition to collecting and providing 1. 5 million as part of a bundle donations. You know, what about that side of this . The political money. The campaign contributions, ashley . What do you do with that . And she has not responded, really, many people say and they dont think that president obama has really responded correctly to this. Correct. And while the spotlight right now is on Hillary Clinton when it comes to the donations and the clinton foundation, which is the whole other thing that ill talk about in a few seconds. I think the political implications here, anyone in this situation who has accepted or received money, any political candidate on either side of the aisle in this situation like this gives the money back and make a stand. Be bold and be strong. Do not wait five days to make a statement that says you feel sorry, and youre appalled. Because, yes, it is appalling. But she was the candidate who said she was the voice and advocate for women. How can she sit there and say that and say that this is appalling and yet keep this money . So the clinton foundation, i mean, we have seen widespread, you know, hypocrisy there when it comes to the they support women and causes of women all around the world. However, they support taking money from governments that practice human rights abuses against women, so this really is not shocking behavior to me from the clinton foundation. Now, the grievance he filed let me back up. What he needs is hard, solid evidence to surmount the clear preponderance of the evidence standard required for his allegations of collusion. So what that means . That means notes. That enemies emails. That means audio of two or more owners committing to not hiring him. And in the grievance he filed, its still vague. Citing theres a directive, no one will hire me. Its statistically impossible that im not hired. He cites President Trumps comments. To me, was there no citation of hard evidence, but also to hard evidence. Cheryl on his behalf. I mean, this is the same Colin Kaepernick who wasnt employed because he wasnt playing good football. But anyway, i digress. Defended the kneeling and players. Listen to this. So you have to resist what our very clear what we call dog whistles through that base. Thats what the black athletes kneeling about. That was not against our anthem or our flag. That was actually kneeling is a reverence position. It was to demonstrate in a peaceful way against racism and injustice in our criminal system. Cheryl you know, ive heard that argument when ive had this discussion with my liberal friends. Do you think that rational holds water here . I think that it does. I think that americans have a constitutional right to peacefully protest, and that is exactly what these players are doing. Theyre protesting not the flag but they social injustices that are happening in this country. Cheryl i want to switch to a big, legal story. It is, obviously, Harvey Weinstein. He is planning on challenging his firing at the board meeting. Fox business is, of course, going to be on top of that. But i tell you what. Its going to be so interesting because his contract says that the board can fire weinstein if hes charged with a crime or does fraud against the company. But he might have been wrongly terminated. Do you think he could get his job back over all of this . I do not and heres why. You are right that theres a clause in the contract in which he has to go to mediation or arbitration, the board does, before terminating him and can only do so upon indictment or charges relating to these allegations of Sexual Assault in terms of settlements. But if he pays them out, it cures. But that being said, courts loathe to protect anything in a contract that is essentially covering up illegal behavior. So they are not going to assess this in a vacuum and say, oh, thats right. You cured those settlements and therefore we will reinstate you. They will view this as this negotiation that your attorneys engaged in was because of your direction as such because of your pattern of misbehavior. Moreover, the board reasonably relied likely on a material misrepresentation on his part. That these encounters were consensual. He is decimated. You have to remember, these are accusations of rape and Sexual Assault. Do you think theres a chance that Harvey Weinstein goes to jail . Its completely possible that Harvey Weinstein goes to jail over this. I mean, hes facing a variety of potentially misdemeanors, felony charges. I mean, the real crime here is that there doesnt seem to be equal justice under the law. The District Attorney had hard evidence that Harvey Weinstein was committing these horrible crimes. They have a tape recording that was released to do media of basically a woman being harassed and, you know, what looked to be the precursor to Sexual Assault, yet decided not to proceed against Harvey Weinstein with that kind of insurmountable evidence. You know, i have to say. The fact that its so much more than what even the lawyers when that contract was drawn up in the first place probably thought, i mean, thats going to be a heck of a fight tomorrow. Hes calling in by phone, were told by tmz. Fox business is going to be following this weinstein meeting. Great voices on all of this. And so, you know, what makes our country and our beautiful country so amazing is that we are not monolithic. We have different opinions, we have different views, and its okay if someone doesnt agree with you. So you know what . Cheryl its tough, though, guys. You have to admit. The election really has polarized so many people. Like i said, ive had these crazy conversations at dinner with friends on what i believe and then you have late night host jimmy fallon. He said something different, which i think is interesting. He hasnt been participating in these jokes. He said quote, its just not what i said. I dont even care that much about politics. So, ashley, do you think that hes making the smarter move just staying out of it . I do. But i want to speak to wendys point here. There was a Pew Research Poll that came out last week that showed over 60 of democrats and 50 of republicans admit that they do not have friends on the opposite side of their political spectrum, which is just a sad reality of how polarizing politics has become.
