Barrel yet again. It is a multimonth low, down another bit. And certainly today while its up 1. 5 , the question is what is the selling point of the Iran Nuclear Deal beyond low oil . Because iran will flood the market with oil it has on its land. The Obama Administration on the Charm Offensive this hour trying to work on other points here to sell. The president expected to make his Iran Nuclear Deal pitch to major American Jewish Community Leaders in less than 90 minutes. This after israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made his case against the deal to the same group. Wrapping up a questionandanswer session just over an hour ago. Now, secretary of state john kerry making his case on iran to americas gulf arab allies yesterday. He actually got an endorsement from the nations of the gulf cooperation council. Negotiations on the Transpacific Partnership ended late friday in hawaii, no agreement. Didnt work out at least for now. Venezuelas a nation with a shaky economy and unpopular are government. The richest Proven Oil Reserves in the world with 297 billion barrels, but its people cant even get coffee when they want it. Weve got all of this covered as the markets are losing steam. Were less than an hour to the closing bell. Oh, yes, and a Federal Reserve fedhead is weighing in on exactly when we should see rate tightening. Lets start the countdown. Liz and this is the breaking news. President obama is about 88 minutes away from stepping up his effort this afternoon in front of American Jewish leaders, this after israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said moments ago to the same group that the Iran Nuclear Deal will not only lead to a Nuclear Arms Race in the middle east, but will increase the flow of funds to terrorism i. Heres what the Prime Minister said. The deal gives iran also a massive infusion of cash, and iran will use this cash to fund its aggression in the region and its terrorism around the world. As a result of this deal, therell be more terrorism, therell be more attacks and more people will die. Liz guess how many people watch that Prime Ministers webcast . 10,000 plus watched it. Did his message make an impact in washington, and more importantly, on the American Jewish community which can, of course, rally congress . Just how will the president follow up after the Prime Ministers message . Now hes about 85 minutes minutm doing that. Lets bring in the former israeli ambassador to the united nations. Welcome, sir, and thank you for joining us live from tel aviv. You heard Prime Minister netanyahus comments. What struck you most . Well, what struck me and what i think is very, very real is the great anxiety and worry that Prime Minister netanyahu feels. And this is the first thing that everybody, including president obama and the american people, should realize. For netanyahu, this is not grandstanding, this is not politics, this is not gamesmanship. This is real anxiety about the future of the state of israel, and he feels that hes being put there to prevent a second holocaust. He believes this is a bad deal, this is a dangerous deal which will enable the worlds most evil, extreme fundamentalist, vicious terrorist regime to become nuclear and to threaten not just israel, but the region and civilization as we know it. This is, i think, the message which the Prime Minister tried to put across, and i hope everybody realizes that it comes out of true anxiety and real, real worry about this very bad deal. Liz of course. Well, its quite obvious. When the iranians come out on a consistent basis and say, literally, death to israel, this is weighing on an entire nation, an entire people. However, not everyone in israel is against this deal. There is a group of former israeli military, mossad, shinbet, these are Security Experts who have come together and, in essence, written that israel should adopt a policy that will restore trust and strengthen the security and diplomatic cooperation in the u. S. And with the u. S. Administration by supporting this deal. You know, being fair and balanced, there is that element there in israel, is there not . Im not sure, liz, that even these people many of whom i know and all of whom i respect very, very much think this is a good deal. Or support the deal. What these people are truly worried about is that the deteriorating relationship between these two great allies, the United States and israel. And i share that worry. I think that, in fact, you know what . Were witnessing today, the Prime Minister having this webcast to jewish leaders, the president in just over an hour meeting with jewish leaders, you know, instead of talking at each other, these two leaders should talk to each other. Instead of speech making, they should concentrate on deal making. Liz well they should try and restore the trust between the two countries, because at the end of the day we are your greatest and only ally in the region, and youre our only friend. So, you know, the deal is a bad deal. And i think everybody realizes. Liz okay. Im sure even the president doesnt think this is a great deal. But what is at stake is much, much more important. Liz as you know whether this is a good or bad deal. Liz as you know, ambassador, the vote is september 17th, and in just the last half an hour, ed royce, republican from california, floated the process of just giving congress an up or down vote against this deal. But you also know there are a lot of deals being made or at least discussed, and there is one senator upon whom there is the most pressure, and that is Chuck Schumer of the state of new york. And we know this because, a, he is very powerful but, b, he is jewish, he is a friend of israel. He is in a tough position trying to figure out what happens. If you could say anything to him and the rest of the members of congress, what would it be . Well, liz, i know chuck well. I have Great Respect and great fondness for him. By the way, schumer in hebrew is shoe her, and chuck himself said to me many times, and i know he says this publicly, that he is schumer israel, it means the guardian of israel. Im sure he has the fate of israel and the security of israel at heart liz of course. And that he will do the right thing. Im, you know, i know this is a very difficult moment and a big dilemma for chuck whether to support the president or to support israel. But i think that he realizes too that this is not about politics liz of course. This is about, this is an existential problem. It is about the existence of israel and of civilization as we know it. This is not just a danger for israel. And, therefore, i would urge Chuck Schumer to do what he truly feels is right, and i believe that deep in his heart he believes this is a bad deal and will vote accordingly. Liz and i believe that he will are do exactly what you hoped for him to do, and that is really weigh this. Ambassador billerman, thank you very much for joining us. Late in tel aviv. In the aftermarket session, were even below that, 45. 71. It has been a horrible month for oil to, down 20 . So just this month alone youre looking at energy stocks, and whatever move we saw today didnt give any energy names a boost. Exxonmobil and chevron along with phillips all trading down. Its not the biggest clip here for some of these numbers, but i just rook at these names look at these names, and you heard Jeannie White yesterday saying stay away from now. Too much supply. And low oil prices, well, theres a positive here. Theyre encouraging consumers to check out for Summer Vacation and check in to hotels. Listen to this stat that just came out. Hotel occupancy, look, its usually high during the summer, but last week hotels were the most occupied they have ever been at this time. So what does that say about our economy . What can we infer from that . Production, manufacturing, retail sales. Just as we start to wonder, oh, are they grinding to a heart or just slogging along, steve joyce knows, president and ceo of Choice Hotels international, franchises more than 6,000 hotels in the u. S. But also 35 other countries, and gary comiskey, allaround fabulous guy, back in the seat. Well, thats a nice intro, thank you, liz. Liz steves the star for the moment though because, tell me, what was last week that was so wonderful . Well, actually, its been building all year. So the industry has never been healthier liz okay, thats a big statement. Never been healthier . Yeah. Occupancy levels are at alltime highs, and the summer is a peak month for travel, particularly for us, and so we are full all summer long. There are still lots of good deals to be had, but 83 of the people we talked to before said im going on vacation. One in four northern ianers say im northeasters are taking a longer vacation, they all want to connect with their friends and families liz whats your average price point of your hotels . Probably in the 80 range because weve got some in the 100s, and some in the 50s. Its about 75, 80. Were the value in town, were the ones that give you free wifi, free breakfast, free parking with a great stay and great value, and we kind of think we represent the 99 . Steve, why is it that hotels have benefited so much from Lower Oil Prices . If you asked economists a year ago, they would have thought it would have impacted department stores, apparel sales, retail sales, and its been disappointing. Its been casual dining and hotels. Why is that . If you think about our customers, they are driving to our locations, whether theyre driving to do their route for business and theyre an independent manufacturers rep or whether theyre a family on vacation, theyre driving. Those lower gas prices is the same as a pay raise to our folks. And the fortunate thing for us, theyre using it to travel more. They feel confident about their jobs and about where the economy is. Obviously, consumer spendings slowing a little bit, but in the Hotel Business were having as strong a business as weve ever had. Liz okay. Youre always looking to expand and grow. Yes, we are. Liz are you brushing up on your spanish . Si. [laughter] liz si, gracias. Okay, lets come out to steve right now because the answer is going to be really important. How close are you to breaking ground, or at least getting there to cuba and opening up shop . Well, getting theres a lot closer than breaking ground. I think ill go there this fall, and were very interested in having a discussion with the government as well as some people that we know do business down there. We think its a huge opportunity. Our customers want to go to cuba. So were big in the caribbean, but cubas going to be the number one destination. Its an incredible island, its huge. If the government is willing to think about how to incent Hotel Companies to go there, were going to go there in big numbers. And ive talked to all my compatriots, all of them are interested in cuba. Liz airbnbs already there. Theyre beating you guys. Theyre a little more virtual than we are. Liz theyre very popular. Yep. Liz if you start to look at the growth, i mean, heck, mariah carey is airbnbing in malibu. She probably stole the house you wanted. Actually, im a little angry we didnt think of it. Its a great idea. Were not sure look, were not going to rent couches. Thats not what our customers want. [laughter] but we are already in the Vacation Rental business. We have launched a business, and were growing it, where we are representing were moving our customers through rental Management Companies into vacation homes. So were already one step into the business. The one thing we have to figure out is consistent delivery, life safety, security and a consistent experience that we know. You mentioned about cuba and the government incentivizing you to be there. What does that mean . Well, they actually dont need to incent us, they need to probably think about the way they conduct their business today. Like, for example, if youre in cuba, you dont actually employ the employees, the government does for you. You pass the money through. For most liz oh, forget that, theyre going to skim. Right. Liz is that a deal breaker for you . Wed have to look at it long and hard. Its not an ideal situation. So and then, you know, theres a lot about the way theyve been doing business, but i think when they look at what the opportunity is for their island and for their people, i think youre going to see things change. Liz its great to see you, steve. Having the best week how about that . Liz ill call you a hotellier. Id have a pocket hanky. [laughter] liz garys going to hang out with us, because thats the kind of guy he is. I will. Im here. Liz closing bell, 40 minutes away. Twitter jumped a little bit earlier today. Why . Well, chatter out there that the company has finally picked a new ceo. Could you guess who it might be . Well, lets just get Charlie Gasparino down here. Hell break it and then smash it to pieces. We have a look at twitter right now, up about a third of a percent. The stock moved higher today earlier, was up more than 1 on chatter that the social Media Company has finally picked a new ceo. Is there any validity to the name that was floated . Fox business senior correspondent, Charlie Gasparino gary comiskey, i heard. [laughter] liz both of you in pink suits. Youd do better than costolo. Thats not hard. Is that italian . Liz theyre both, i guess. I know irish guys named costello. [laughter] its great to see you. This is fantastic, you know . Its fun. Gary and i go way back, financial crisis reporting liz excuse me, i go back further with him. Thank you. 1998. I just spoke to some of the interns, we go back before any of them were born. How great was the coverage of the financial crisis . Yeah. Unbelievable. That was an unbelievable time because, you know, he was at lehman brothers. It was acquired by lehman brothers. Liz lets get to twitter because twitter was going through an unbelievable time right after its ipo. It skyrocketed to 72 a share. Right. Liz look at it now, and whats the chatter today about a ceo replacement . Well, i dont believe it, but there was, like, some rumor going around that sheryl sandberg, the facebook coo or number two, i think shes president and coo liz cfo. No, shes coo. That she was going to go to twitter. I think a more likely scenario is that facebook buys twitter and makes her the ceo of the facebook subsidiary of twitter. Again, i give that low odds. Listen, when i i defer to people that cover this stuff more, and, you know, those are people like cara swisher at recode. Recode. She thinks theres a greater likelihood that a google buys them than a facebook just for a lot of reasons. Liz regulatory muster would be very difficult to face. Heres how you know that, you know, now the sentiment which we were first to report about how twitter was at least management was acknowledging they would like a sale at some point, that they were open to one. Heres youve even got guys at cnbc throw anything the towel like doug cass and all these other lemmings. I like doug, hes a nice guy, but theyre now saying an acquisition is why they would buy the stock, and thats what they see in the cards in the future. Liz which is what we said months ago. Months and months ago. The problem is there are situations, as you and i know going back, that you buy a company for a takeover, and it works. Right. But the majority of times, the great majority of times anytime you make an investment in a business that is undergoing dramatic change on the hope of a takeover, it is a failing investment strategy. Right, right. And so the fundamentals here are clearly weak, and when an ultimate deal takes place, maybe significantly lower oh, no, i think heres what i would tell the average investor looking to buy at these levels, wait until it gets to 20. Thats where i see it going. Liz maybe its just fairly valued now. Maybe its fallen back the analysts that know the company best say its impossible to give a true valuation of the business right now because the business is changing. And so if the business is changing, theyre trying to monetize the people that are on utilizing the connected Service Every day. They dont know what the value is, because they dont know what the revenue run rate looks like. Which means it has to go down, i think. I mean, i think a fair when it hits 25, if it does hit 25, thats when i think people start saying, okay, wheres the value here. Liz well, i will say this, everybody should go on lizclaman because i just posted a picture of the three of us. You gotta see that. [laughter] follow me. Great to have you, charlie. Thank you very much. Interesting that they were saying 30, now its 25, but the stock right now is at 29 and change. Gary, thank you so much. Gary will be back with us. Earlier, though, it was falling more than 4 at one point. That put it into correction territory and was trading below its 200day moving arm. Listen, those are metrics that actually matter for a stock that is so heavily weighted in the nasdaq. It is the most heavily weighted of the nasdaq. No new major headlines out today, but some investors are worried about weaker than expected iphone sales growth. Why . Because their big market is china, and last weve been telling you, china is slowing down, and maybe people are conserving cash, not buying these fancy phones. We shall see. On a brighter note, netflix hitting a new alltime high today. The streaming video giant expected to Begin Service in japan on september 2nd. Guggenheim initiating with a buy rating and a price target of 160. Those of you listening on xm sirius 113 channel, were thrilled, but the stock is only at 121, so its got a while to go. Its the number one performer in the s p 500 this year with a gain this year alone of 142 . Speaking of big percentage gains, we are just two days away now from the fox news gop debate in cleveland. And front runner donald trump is seeing some big percentage gains. He is promising to be, quote, nice to his fellow gop candidates saying he will not be the first to attack. But it sure looked like the gloves were already coming off in this question that he posted to the candidates on facebook. Quote id like to ask all of the candidates that is, politicians and not really negotiators people that dont negotiate jobs and lots of other things, how are you going to make America Great again . So yet another chapter in this fascinating book and, again, we are early in the cycle. But with us now, democratic strategist mary ann marsh along with patrick brennan, National Review opinion editor. The big jump we want to talk about is that the number of gop voters, patrick, saying they would back donald trump is now doubling. How do you look at that number . Yeah, its huge. I mean, he has a level of support that no candidate has had this cycle so far, and given the unprecedented number of candidates in the race, its really, really shocking. No one expected anyone let alone donald trump to get to this point. The only issue is these polls are somewhat unreliable, and they capture a lot of people that arent planning to vote in the primaries. They dont do screens for likely voters, they dont ask if youre an iowan, are you going to caucus for him . There can be a bit of a padding for him. Liz okay, thats an important point. But, mary ann, as you look at this candidate and, again, were going to hear from them, itll be pretty interesting on the thursday night debate the latest not just fox news polls, but the wall street journal nbc polls are showing him gaining even more strength. How do you think that he comes off during the debate on thursday . I would just say one thing. Fox, im not just is saying this because im on fox business, but the fox news poll and the wall street journal poll, you can take to the bank. Theyre always right, theyre very accurate. I know the pollsters personally, take those numbers to the bank. Liz good. When it comes to donald trump on thursday night, hes the show. People who dont even participate in politics, who might go to vote are going to watch this debate because they want to see whats going to happen. When you look at these poll numbers, liz, ive said for several weeks now, Donald Trumps the real thing. His latest gains have really come out of jeb bush. And when you look at conservatives, 10 of them have left jeb bush and largely gone to donald trump. So thats an interesting dynamic. When you look at the stage thursday night, donald trump front and center, jeb bush on one side, scott walker on the other. And they have a lot to lose on thursday night if they dont perform. Liz let me bring in a real person not that you guys arent [laughter] Keith Mccullough is a guest, not a strategist with an agenda. We have him on the show all the time. He was on this morning on fox business. They were talking about the election. Listen to what he i dont know keiths politics, but hes a money guy. Of hes a business guy. Heres what he said about donald trump. Trumps got to go deeper than sound bites. I want to see some real leadership, not just performing against mediocrity. I think a lot of what hes been delivered here is the mediocrity of the field. From a trading aspect, do you want actual ideas from actionable. I mean, i will move back to canada if hes the president of the United States. What . I will. [laughter] liz dagen said, wait a minute, hold on. Dont move to canada yet, keith. Patrick, thats a real voter right there. Yeah, yeah. I mean, ill agree with the him that this is i think what people want to see from him, can he be serious . We dont know. And so but i think some people are maybe expecting hell be serious. Liz mary ann, a little bit of a distraction here when it comes to Hillary Clinton, and i saudis traction because im wondering if shes worried so much that she needs to get the female vote. She put out a new ad, its talking about her mother, dorothy, and saying that her mother was abandoned by her own parents when she was very young, and it is a very touching story. Right now the poll numbers are showing its not resonating at the moment where people tend to look at Hillary Clinton and wonder, you know, is she, is she really realistic in trying to convince people that shes that person . I just want to say two points. This story, not only is it her life story and why she got involved and why shes always championed children and families, its what you hear her say in very small settings. Its only been up since tuesday, so it hasnt had any effect yet, but its central to her campaign theme. I think the common denominator between Hillary Clinton and donald trump, theyre both very well known, theyre pretty well define asked. Theyre not defined as how they would be the next president of the United States, but theyre being measured against themselves right now. Its donald trump and everybody else, its Hillary Clinton and everybody else in the democratic poll, and clinton beats every republican including trump. So thats where the race is right now, and thats how theyre being measured. Liz we want to hear how theyre going to create jobs and make this a stronger economy. Central to the truth. Liz very much so. Thank you. Liz yes. Mary ann marsh, patrick brennan, join us again. Great to have you both. Closing bell, were now 19 minutes away.
