Fairfield settles one lawsuit, offers firm $1 million compromise

BRIDGEPORT — In its effort to recoup the millions of dollars it claims it lost in the fill pile scandal, the town of Fairfield has settled one lawsuit and offered to settle another with a Clinton environmental engineering firm for $1 million.
Town Attorney James Baldwin said the town agreed to accept a settlement of $225,000 in its federal lawsuit against 1 Commerce Drive LLC, British Motor Works and Pustola and Associates in connection with the fill pile.
