The Overstrand’s Deputy Mayor intends laying charges of crimen injuria and defamation against the Land Party and Zwelihle Renewal.
The charge stems from a Facebook post by Zwelihle Renewal that insinuates Elnora Gillion, Deputy Mayor of the Overstrand, and a group of “co-conspirators” are plotting to assassinate several people, including Gcobani Ndzongana, leader of the Land Party and Speaker of the Western Cape Parliament and DA Constituency Head in the Overstrand and Overberg, Masizole Mnqasela.
The Facebook post by Zwelilhle Renewal starts off by encouraging people to vote for the Land Party. It also accuses Gillion of trying to promote a “white racist agenda” by turning the “coloured community” against the black residents of the Overstrand and ousting black DA councillors.
