MOTORISTS using the busy Jan Smuts Drive in Athlone can expect traffic to be impeded as resurfacing work has begun, with a completion date set for next month.
The City’s Transport Directorate recently started work on the north-bound carriageway of Jan Smuts Drive, from the intersection with Klipfontein Road to the N2 boundary.
Work is scheduled between 9am and 4pm from Monday to Saturday.
The project is expected to be completed by June 15, pending unforeseen delays and inclement weather, the City said.
“Although no road closures are anticipated, we foresee that traffic flow will be impeded around the construction areas. To manage this, we will have flag personnel regulating the traffic flow either by temporary lane diversions or temporary lane closures.”
