Expanded Fishing Opportunities Proposed at Kootenai NWR

The
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposes expanding fishing opportunities on
Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) for the 2021-2022 season. We propose to
open the 2.2-mile section of Deep Creek’s banks that are within the Refuge to
night fishing in order to offer additional compatible fishing opportunities, in
alignment with the State fishing season. We expect that most night fishing
would occur for burbot in the winter months, when these fish aggregate at the
mouth of Deep Creek and are most active. Fishing will be in accordance with
