Exercise campaign similar to ‘5 a Day’ recommended to get young people moving
Children and young people should be encouraged to exercise, says a committee of MPs (PA)
A nationwide campaign to encourage young people to do at least an hour of daily exercise similar to “5 a Day” should be launched after an apparent decline in physical activity during the pandemic, MPs have said.
The Government should also launch a “Work Out to Help Out” campaign to incentivise people to get involved in organised sport, the cross-party Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee added.
The committee heard evidence that more than 100,000 fewer children in England met the minimum 60 minutes’ daily activity recommended by the Chief Medical Officer last year compared with the year before.
