Peabody and Lendlease have whittled down a 10-strong longlist to five ‘diverse and innovative’ teams in its £8 billion Thamesmead Waterfront development contest
AJ 40 under 40 stars feature in all but one of the shortlisted collaborations vying to become strategic masterplanners for the massive project in south-east London.

Allies and Morrison has teamed up with – among others – AJ 40 under 40 member Jas Bhalla, while Prior + Partners is leading a bid with West 8 of Rotterdam, Alison Brooks Architects, Turner Works, and AJ 40 under 40 talent Jayden Ali’s JA Projects.
Separately, Studio Egret West is heading a collaboration with Danish outfit Cobe, Dulwich Pavilion-designer Yinka Ilori Studio. and featuring AJ 40 under 40 member Je Ahn’s Studio Weave and Freehaus which is jointly headed by another AJ 40 under 40 star Jonathan Hagos. A fourth group known as Urban Orchestra includes Tibbalds, Stirling Prize-winner Mikhail Riches, Haptic and Expedition, and also featuring AJ 40 under 40’s Madeleine Kessler, Mary Duggan Architects, Tintagel Bridge designer William Matthews Associates, and ZCD Architects.
