Albaray CEO Paula Stewart, former group chief product officer of Oasis and Warehouse Group; chief creative officer Karen Peacock, ex-design director at Warehouse; and chief commercial officer Kirstie Di Stazio, former commercial director at Warehouse; co-founded the contemporary womenswear brand amidst the coronavirus pandemic, after Oasis and Warehouse Group collapsed in May 2020. Boohoo Group acquired the online business and all associated intellectual property of Oasis and Warehouse in a £5.25m cash deal with Hilco Capital.
Albaray will launch direct-to-consumer via its own website in April, and on John Lewis and Next websites in the same month. It will also be sold in five John Lewis stores when retail reopens on 12 April.
