PILIBHIT: Following an Allahabad high court order, a Lucknow-based petitioner, Kaushalendra Singh, has sent a representation to the principal chief conservator of forest (wildlife) of UP, the field director of Dudhwa National Park (DNP) and the district magistrate of Kheri, to start proceedings for the eviction of dwellers of village Surma from the core forest area of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR).
As per the petitioner, the relocation of the village is essential as its residents indulge in poaching, illegal felling of trees and other wildlife crime in the core forest area, dozens of cases of which have been officially reported so far.
