EVANSVILLE, Ind. — An Evansville woman was sentenced to five years in prison Friday afternoon in connection with her husband's death by stabbing in 2019.
Judge Robert J. Pigman of Vanderburgh County Superior Court ordered Wendy Payne, 53, to serve five years with the Indiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served in the Vanderburgh County Jail, where she has been held without bond since her arrest in July 2019.
Payne was found guilty of reckless homicide in the stabbing death of Edward Payne, 60, after a jury trial in March. Payne faced a murder charge for his death; the jury found her guilty on the lesser charge of reckless homicide.
