Essex Police sergeant who injured female colleague in Grays Police Station given final written warning
AN Essex Police sergeant has been served a final written warning after being found to have committed gross misconduct.
An investigation was launched after a police constable reported that she had been injured by Sergeant Paul Wigington after an incident at Grays Police Station on 8 November 2019.
A misconduct hearing took place this week, between 19 and 22 April, at Chelmsford Civic Centre.
The panel, led by legally qualified chair Stephen Gowland, heard that Sergeant Wigington and the constable had engaged in a friendly joke a short time before the incident occurred.
