New data shows 2020 was the warmest year since town council records began.
The automatic weather station has finished its first year of operation, and the data has been compared alongside the previous Epping weather station which ran from 1979 until 2013.
With 35 years of data – albeit with six years missing from 2014-19 – to analyse, 2020 emerged as the warmest year in the town since records began.
Last year the weather station recorded a mean annual temperature of 11.5°C, approximately 1.1°C above the average.
The months of January and May were the warmest of any on record, and the town experienced the third warmest April and November, the fourth warmest February
