The Senate passed two justice-related bills on Tuesday: one intended to protect survivors of domestic violence, and one that would automatically erase some criminal convictions.
The first measure would expand the definition of domestic violence to include “coercive control.” If the proposal is signed into law, isolating family members from their friends or relatives, controlling family members’ movements or daily behavior and threatening animals to intimidate family members all would be considered domestic violence.
