Enid Carolyn Nysetvold was born September 2, 1934, to Ole and Mina (Aasgaard) Nysetvold of Twin Valley, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran, a church her father built. She grew up with her 4 brothers and 5 sisters and graduated from Twin Valley High School. Enid worked in various caretaking and health care roles during her life. She was an in-home childcare provider, a nursing, kitchen, home health and clinic aide, and an administrative assistant for a county health agency. Enid married Phillip O. Myrold on December 26, 1958 at Zion Lutheran in Twin Valley. Enid and Phil traveled with the Navy to Oakland, CA and Yokosuka, Japan while Phil served. Born unto Enid and Phil were three daughters, Kathryn Louise (1959, Oakland, CA), Kari Lynn (1961, Fargo, ND) and Kirsten Enid (1964, Crookston, MN). Enid and Phil raised their daughters in the Red River Valley eventually settling in Thief River Falls, MN. After Phil’s death Enid met and married Lloyd K. Burkholder. They resided in Scotland, PA for twenty years. Enid became a European traveler accompanying Lloyd on various choir tours with the ‘Towne Singers’ to Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, France, Belgium among others. Enid and Lloyd traveled the United States in their motorhome and cruised the Alaskan coast on a ship. They also traveled to MN numerous times to visit and help with her daughter’s families which were growing and providing them with many loving grandchildren. More recently, Enid became a great grandmother on her 87th birthday. Following Lloyd’s death Enid moved to Two Harbors, MN. There she became ‘super grandma’ to Kirsten’s children involving herself in many of their activities as well as her own through the Peacemaker’s quilting group at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, grocery shopping for the homebound and calling bingo.
