An emu, a large, flightless bird, is running loose, according to the Pendleton County Animal Shelter and county dispatchers.
The emu was seen heading west into the woods on Ky. 22, according to the shelter's Facebook post that asked people to contact the bird's owner if they spot it.
The post asked people to not try and catch the emu. If possible, people were asked to let the bird into a yard if it is on their fence line before calling the animal shelter, 911 dispatch, or the owner.
A Pendleton County 911 dispatcher confirmed that the animal remains on the loose as of 8:29 p.m. with no reports of it being spotted yet.
