Emergency crews rescue van driver stuck in deluge as nearly 300 flood warnings are in place across the UK with 75mph 'danger to life' gales on the way after Met Office issues urgent yellow weather warnings

A van driver was rescued from his roof by firefighters off Mersea Island in Essex today when four vehicles became stranded in a 3.5ft high tide as Britain was hit by flooding chaos.
