A strange burglary in Northwest Washington left some people scratching their heads.
On February 2, King County deputies were called out to an apartment complex near North 160th Street and Aurora Avenue North in Shoreline. When authorities arrived, they were directed to the lobby where everything appeared to be in place -- except for the missing elevator door.
Deputies concluded the door was stolen overnight. The estimated cost to replace the door could run from $7,000 to $10,000.
"Due to the unique nature of this stolen item, someone is bound to know something about this theft. After all, an elevator door is hard to hide," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook. "Thieves are known to take anything that isn’t nailed down, but we have to say this one takes the cake."
