It dismissed the election petition filed by Jumat in October with cost of RM20,000 on Wednesday (Dec 23).
Azhar’s counsel Benjamin Chin said the court cited several reasons for the dismissal, among which was the petition's non-compliance with the rules and laws.
He said the court stated among other things that the notice of presentation was defective because the date of presentation of the election petition stated was Oct 19,2020 when the one presented was Oct 20,2020.
The court said as such the petition did not have a valid notice of presentation, hence, it did not comply with the mandatory rule on service.
