This year’s Eid Ul Fitri public holiday will be observed on Monday, 17 May, 2021.
Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development confirmed of the development after receiving a communique from the Muslims Association of Malawi.
According to the statement, Prayers marking the end of the holy month of Ramadhan will be held on Friday, as the sighting of the new moon is likely to be on Thursday, 13th May 2021.
“The Ministry of local Government and Rural Development wishes to inform the general public that, following an advise from the Muslim Association of Malawi(MAM), the sighting of the moon is likely to be on Thursday, 13th May 2021. In that circumstances, this year’s Eid Ul Fitri prayers marking the end of the holy month of Ramadhan will be held on Friday, 14th, May 2021 depending on the sighting of the moon.
