Eesti Energia will build the company's first large-scale storage device at the Auvere industrial complex later this year to balance the fluctuations in electricity prices caused by the growth in renewable energy production and to support the stability of the electrical system.
The investment in battery storage will help Eesti Energia to increase the use of electricity produced from renewable energy sources, while ensuring more stable prices for end consumers. The storage facility will be operational by the beginning of 2025, at the same time as the Baltic countries are disconnected from the Russian electricity grid.
