A solar eclipse takes place when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth. Such an awe-inspiring event happens when the Moon totally blocks the Sun and our Moon’s shadow graces onto part of the Earth’s surface. On Monday, December 14, the Moon's shadow falls on South America, presenting one of these incredible occasions.
