Some add literacy, art and community service to it.
Kim Lytle is one of those educators. Lytle has been working with her first-grade students at Wall Elementary in Sturgis for several weeks, outlining the importance of taking care of the Earth.
A few of her students, Barrett Johnson, Roman Lawrence, Zoey Fry, Olivia Johansen, and Caitlin Ritchie, talked about ways to keep the planet in good shape.
“Earth Day is when you pick up trash and make the Earth healthy,” Roman said. “You need to plant trees and plants.”
Zoey said, “Plants make oxygen.”
Roman said, “We breath carbon dioxide to plants to make them big and strong.”
