E-Service centre inaugurates at HC
Dec 23:  In a move to maintain transparency and provide easy access to basic information pertaining to judicial functioning and trial of cases under the e-Courts project, the e-Sewa Kendra was inaugurated by the Chief Justice of India inside the High Court of Tripura premises here on Wednesday.The Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, who was on his four day visit to North East that started from Assam on December 19, on Wednesday reach Agartala from Mizoram and visited Tripur Sundari temple and inaugurated the facility in High Court premises in the afternoon.Speaking at the inaugural session, the Chief Justice of India, Bobde said that he had not thought that Tripura would be so advanced in terms of technology.“I for one having taken the decision to go on electronic was ‘acutely conscious’ that this technology is going to make justice ‘technology-dependent’. But the other option was to shut down the court, which was not possible particularly for the High Courts and the Supreme Court”, Bobde said.He also said that it is a great idea and to have e-Sewa Kendras giving access to technology and people will have access to courts. He also said that he is delighted to see the resource facility created by the High Court of Tripura which is truly the state of art.Citing Archbishop of Canterbury William Temple, the Chief Justice of India said Temple opened his discourse while visiting laywers in courts by saying, “I can’t say I know much about the law, having been far more invested in justice”. Appreciating the role of the people during the 1971 Bangladesh freedom movement and said the openness of the people who have accommodated lakhs of people during 1971 and still continuing to do so. It shows that resources are the secondary part of man life. It is the man’s heart, the character that determines the greatness of the people”.The chief justice of Tripura High Court, AA Kureshi said that the landlocked state was once the constant source of inspiration for a great thinker, philosopher and poet Rabindranath Tagore and the state also had produced two of the music composers that Indian film industry has seen—SD Burman and RD Burman which shows that neither the smallest of the state and its geography condition come on the state to make the state one of the finest in country.“The use of technology in justice delivery is not new phenomena, but the spread of coronavirus pushed us into accepting and adopting new technology in a furious space. In the process we realized that technological advances can do wonders in the judicial system”, Kureshi said.He also said that across the country justice delivery systems were kept on during the most difficult times through virtual courts. When holding physical courts was just not possible without endeavoring human lives.“We also realized that cutting age technology has a propensity of creating divide and exasperating a divide between have and have not which already exists”, Kureshi added.He further said that the careful use of technology with human touch is of great importance and hoped that the e-Sewa Kendra will provide services to all those who do not have access as much as those who have. “We promise you sir that we will continue working hard in our endeavor to achieve the constitutional role of achieving social political and economic justice for all”, Kureshi added. Apart from the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court AA Kureshi, Justice S Talapatra and Justice SG Chattopadhayay and Lokayukta of Odisha Justice Ajit Singh, chief secretary Manoj Kumar, director general of police VS Yadav and others also remained present in the programme.He also recited the poem-- the woods are lovely dark and deep but I have promised to keep and and miles to go before I sleep.
