HSN pathologist keen to help with study of Kamloops remains

Dr. Kona Williams, a forensic pathologist at Health Sciences North, wants to play a role in identifying the remains of 215 Indigenous children who were found recently at a former residential school near Kamloops, BC. She is the daughter of a Cree father -- himself a survivor of the residential school system -- and a Mohawk mother.

Dr. Kona Williams says she has been preparing for this undertaking her whole life.
Williams, a Sudbury-based forensic pathologist working at Health Sciences North, hopes she has a chance to contribute to what could be one of the country’s most historic reunification programs.
