But we saw in recent weeks a groundswell of support for his opponent to kind of well now were hearing from state media that she only got close to 70 percent of the vote what can you tell us about that outcome. It does seem surprising if you look at the unprecedented amount of support that weve been seeing. Even out on the streets its very rare for people to protest invalid groups at all usually protesters immediately get arrested and weve been seeing kind of up to 60000 people gathering in support of state law on the tube and office so in a sense that really doesnt add up with the numbers that weve now seen in this exit poll the opposition itself including. Actually anticipated that would win and they said that they thought it was likely that there would be violations at the ballot box herself called on her supporters to wear white ribbons around their wrists when they went to the ballot boxes as a way for independent monitors to be able to count how much support the opposition really has there was an opposition platform that was calling on people to send in pictures of their ballots so we may see kind of alternative. Counts emerging there as well. And what else might we expect to see happen next. Well the opposition has called for a protest tonight. Has said called on her supporters as well to come to their local polling station so we may see people gathering there i havent seen that on social media so far but well be monitoring that and. It does seem though however that the situation in the country and in minsk is rather tense there have been sightings of military vehicles outside of minsk this morning it may be that we will see a crackdown and tensions continuing over the next few days.
