called aspen thanks for joining us at 1st they were symptom free but now officials say 2 people evacuated from china to germany on saturday are in fact infected with the new corona virus they were among a group of more than 120 passengers flown to frankfurt on a military plane from move on that's the chinese city at the center of the outbreak evacuees are now in quarantine and a military facility and they will be there for 2 weeks now infected are 2 german citizens they're being treated in a hospital in frankfurt are doctors say they are doing well. on sunday germany's health minister defended the decision to carry out the evacuation. departure and show you know we had to and were able to assume that symptom free compact treats were returning to us frank they were still symptom free in frankfurt and in that sense they seemed healthy. but thank you patient to you means in a situation like this but what we've seen can change relatively quickly but shows exactly why the quarantine was right that's entirely on topic and which one of those people who was on the plane joins us now yannick vice is a german student who was living in china he's now in fact under quarantine at an air base in southwestern germany yannick 1st of all thank you for speaking with us i want to ask you how is your health how are you feeling i mean this has been quite the ordeal for you and everybody who was on a plane. well. i'm feeling very well. for all of those. everybody i know you're from the german group also very well. of course this is a difficult situation for all of those. current whom nobody expected this. when we started china. of course we were fine we were well treated and of course he has quite a lot of medical support so if something would. never to really hospital in frankfurt what's that quarantine like so you currently at a german military base what are the facilities like do you feel where well taken care of and how are you coping personally. well right now we are here the military base. building is separated from the other buildings we have heads around all most so there is no way that an old soldier or somebody else can join us in our holes but also we are not allowed to leave or house. because we are not to go outside but we are not in the house to pass the fence. facility here is very very good everybody else has the security you know we wanted to. we wanted to prevents the whole break here also of course in the facility so this kind of is elation is i think the best opportunity to minister extinct. tell me about the evacuation of self you were one of a around 100 people flown out of china at the time you were not aware that a couple of people on the plane were infected right. well of course this is a risk that is always there but we're also hearing mosques during the creation in the claim for all the time so i think there is extent we think does there is not a very high but of course it's quite possible. and that's why we have here just kind of courage team because i think it's necessary for us nobody can say and my healthy you know. how you were studying in will haunt right what was life like in the city once this outbreak happened what what did you experience. well of course i was there for health year at the beginning everything was stunning for me it's a living city and it really new people are living there and suddenly all these $11000000.00 people nobody is at the streets anymore and we do have giant routes which are completely empty malls and nobody is inside it there are no cars there are no walkers or something out most the shops are completely clueless. only some supermarkets are open left there after all series and everything else that's right. but for me this is students i don't have the opportunities to accrue for myself very much so 'd the last time well a lot of instant noodles and went to the rules and fruits of calls and find that i can ease no base or food here john advice he's a german student he was recently evacuated from china from ohio due to the corona virus outbreak you sound very calm thank you so much for speaking with us we really appreciate you taking the time.
