Numbers plus. A farewell to one of the most recognizable voices of the eightys and ninetys Marie Fredrickson of the swedish pop jewel rock set guys aged 61. Im called aspen welcome to the program we begin in the United States where democrats on capitol hill have officially laid out their case for impeaching President Donald Trump accusing him of quote high crimes and misdemeanors the speaker of the house nancy pelosi and the heads of investigating committees releasing a shorts 9 page documents within those pages are 2 articles of impeachment charging the president with abusing his powers and obstructing congress both charges come from the president s alleged efforts to solicit foreign interference in next years president ial election and hide any evidence from congress. Well heres how the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee adam schiff described the president s actions the president from solicited a foreign nation ukraine to publicly announce investigations into his opponent and a baseless Conspiracy Theory promoted by russia to help his reelection campaign. President trump abuse the power of his office by conditioning to official acts to get ukraine to help israel action the release of hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid that nation desperately needed and a white house meeting with an ally trying to fend off russian aggression in so doing he undermined our National Security and jeopardized the integrity of our next election and he does so still. Correspondent has been following the impeachment process and he explains exactly what is behind those 2 articles that were released on tuesday the democrats have decided to stick to 2 articles of impeachment the 1st of which is abuse of power and that relates to President Trump allegedly withholding military aid from ukraine in exchange for kiev investigating the former Vice President joe biden and possibly President Trumps democratic rival in the president ial election in 2020 other charges obstruction of congress that relates to the allegations by the democrats that President Trump blocked all efforts to investigate do you crane scandal republicans have been very quick to react to this in fact many have said that it was in fact the democrats who have abused their power and in fact were obstructing congress President Trump came out on twitter and he said that it was a witch once again now the next stage in this process is the house of representatives which is controlled by the democrats is expected to vote on these articles of impeachment possibly next week it is expected to come before christmas so that everything is wrapped up before it passes on to the senate where a trial will take place early in 2020. Well wednesday is the final day of campaigning in britains general election and as Party Leaders scramble to get their message out one last opinion poll has the conservatives ahead it shows the tories on course for a majority of seats in the u. K. Parliament is now the survey conducted by hugo of polling predicts Prime MinisterBoris Johnson will have a narrow majority of around 28. 00 seats but that lead is smaller than polling indicated last month with Jeremy Corbyn the leader of the Opposition Labor Party closing the gap on johnson ulster say a range of outcomes are still possible including a hung parliament. And the dwindling lead was perhaps on johnsons mind as he addressed the porters at an election rally in manchester on tuesday it will because this is a tight fight weve got to get out there go out from this place here much like and to spread the word spread the word about how hard this election could be about the risks that this country faces we must get our message across are joining me now for more on the upcoming u. K. Election is the reporter jonathan will share a 1st of all lets go back now to that poll i mean just give us a few more details because really depending on how you look at this theres maybe good news for labor and the conservatives discuss right its the final poll before election day its about the number of seats so its really about who gets into the house of commons its not about the percentage of votes the conservative party as you say a getting a modest majority of 28. 00 seats at least the polls predicting but less than 2 weeks ago the same polling organization predicted they would get 68. 00 seats so we should take this with a pinch of salt polls polls and theyre just predictions but this polling in 2017 the same type of polling same model was in fact accurate so it might be quite good indication of whats about to happen the main story is the tories will get a majority in parliament but the other story is the gap is narrowing between labor and the conservatives labor and there are the polls in 2017 doing the same again it seems so conservative may have a lead at least according to this polling but that lead slipping i mean whats behind maybe a surge in the polls for labor. Well this campaign for the conservatives has been all about briggs it but for labor its very much been about the National Health service in the u. K. And the tories are trying to win labor seats labor strongholds talking about breaks it but labor have come in and they relentlessly focusing on the National Health service and thats because for the conservatives the National Health service is seen as their weak point especially from the labor supporters or potential labor supporters i just want to give you an example from the campaign there was a photo that went viral of a young boy that was sleeping on the floor of a hospital in the u. K. It was taken by his mother and that photo was shown to Boris Johnson in a t. V. Interview and he didnt want to engage in the topic and he actually took the journalists fun and put it in his pocket and this was seen as a real gaffe and this was seen as something really really good for labor but whats really interesting is off the words there was a lot of disinformation about this photo with it was whether it was really real not but the hospital came out of formally apologized suggesting in fact it was real but it gives an indication of the kind of dirty campaigning thats going on the in the u. K. Right know now if this poll is right and we do it up then with a small majority for the conservatives what would that mean for u. K. Politics and of course for bracks it as we go at well this whole election is has been touted as one of the most important in the u. K. For an entire generation and thats because of briggs it if johnson does get a majority that means he can push through breaks it by the end of january next year but the devil will be in the details its all about the internal politics in the conservative party that would define exactly what type of breaks it happens and what kind of deal johnson will try to strike come with the European Union i will one more day of campaigning to go and then we will get real results or porter john of the mulcher thanks very much.
