Every year, they pool their money for Christmas. And every year, the Duluth Fire Department makes sure Northland kids have a Christmas to remember.
"It started out 21 years ago. It was first a challenge between the Fire Department and the Police Department. That first year, they failed to mention that to us, so they won," says Fire Captain Ed Schumacher. "And then after that, it's been going on. And both the Fire Department and the Police Department have been donating generously to the toy drive."
This year, the firefighters raised around $4,000 to go on a Target shopping spree, which is what they did Monday morning.
