The Fort Dodge Police Department said a driver learned the hard way not to ignore road signs after their car became stuck in wet concrete. Fort Dodge police confirmed to KCCI on Monday that officers cited a 37-year-old Webster City woman with failure to obey a traffic control device after she drove past barriers on Martin Luther King Drive. Police said construction crews blocked off the road for concrete patch repair.Construction crews told police that they attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued through the construction area and hit wet concrete while attempting to switch lanes. The Fort Dodge government Facebook page wrote in a post: “Please don't ignore signs that say roads are closed or closed to through traffic. And please don't drive around the barricades!”According to a police report, the driver stated that she had been following GPS instructions and that she witnessed other drivers passing through the area.Fort Dodge police told KCCI: “The road signs are in place for a reason and we encourage everyone to use caution throughout this construction season.”
