Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency had since installed metal barriers along both sides of the Bridge.
The coroner recommended additional road markers be erected to warn drivers the road veered to the right before the bridge. He also recommended signage be erected before the bridge warning of potential sun strike.
Campbell died instantly when he crashed into the edge of the one-lane bridge. His car flipped upside and landed in the riverbed below.

Tom Campbell died in car crash on June 7, 2017, on the Haast Highway (SH6) in South Westland.
A toxicology report showed cannabis in Campbell’s blood, but the coroner found this was not a primary cause of the crash.
