A downstate man was caught with illegal drugs in Grand Traverse County Thursday night.
A deputy and a member of the Interdiction Team stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Barlow Street in Traverse City.
While speaking to the 40-year-old driver from Muskegon, the deputy noticed a small package containing a powdery substance near his feet.
The man was arrested for possession with intent to deliver heroin and meth.
During the booking process in the jail, investigators found more illegal drugs on the man, and he’s now charged with smuggling contraband in to a jail.
