Douglas C. Webb, the founder of Teledyne Webb Research, North Falmouth, has received an honorary appointment to the position of Oceanographer Emeritus at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution for his role in advancing knowledge of the Earthâs oceans.
Mr. Webbâs career has spanned more than half a century, starting when he moved to Woods Hole with his wife, Shirley F. Webb, in 1962.
WHOI Deputy Director and Vice President for Research Richard W. Murray announced his approval of Mr. Webbâs nomination in a letter last month, noting that he personally remembers reading one of Mr. Webbâs papers in the publication Science as a college student in the 1980s.
