DoorDash, Grubhub sue San Francisco over permanent delivery fee cap

Third party delivery giants DoorDash and Grubhub filed a lawsuit against San Francisco’s permanent commission fee cap on Friday, July 16.
San Francisco’s permanent cap on third-party delivery fees, the first in the nation, is headed to court. DoorDash and Grubhub sued the City of San Francisco on Friday, firing back at the cap as an “irrational law, driven by naked animosity and ill-conceived economic protectionism.”
San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors voted unanimously in June to permanently cap food delivery fee commissions charged by companies like DoorDash and Grubhub at 15% per order, “to protect independent restaurants from the exploitative and predatory practices of third-party food delivery apps that seek to extract wealth from our local economy,” Supervisor Aaron Peskin said at the time.
