One of the last acts of President Donald Trump, aside from his alleged incitement of a deadly, nearly unprecedented, insurrection, was to pardon the man most responsible for his election.
The late decision to issue a presidential pardon to Steve Bannon, former Trump campaign manager and White House adviser, was said to have been a difficult one, but c’mon, of course the scraggly strategist was going to receive a pass for his alleged role in a border-wall scheme that resulted in federal fraud charges.
Bannon was allegedly part of a group that raised substantial money from public donors to build a border wall in El Paso, only he kept over $1 million for personal use. He was charged in August, and his trial was originally scheduled for last week.
