UPDATED JANUARY 9 2021:
Gayle Balgowan confirmed on January 7 that Brooke sailed through her surgeries and hopes to come back to Rockhampton for a short while before beginning radiation.
Ms Balgowan said her son and daughter-in-law are "overwhelmed but so very thankful" for the public's generosity.
Within days of the
Morning Bulletin article, their GoFundMe page received an anonymous $10,000 donation.
No doubt it will be harder than ever to manage Brooke's treatment and family visits as the Brisbane area goes into lockdown
Donations small and sizeable continue to trickle in as CQ locals wish the Balgowans well and hope for Brooke's recovery.
