DOJ Inspector General launches probe into whether senior officials tried to overturn election results after Trump plot 'to fire his acting AG and replace him with lawyer willing to declare fraud' was revealed
Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz announced Monday he opened an investigation into current and former officials at the agency
The probe will seek to find whether any 'DOJ official engaged in an improper attempt to have DOJ seek to alter the outcome of the 2020 Presidential Election.'
The announcement comes after Horowitz receive pressure from leadership, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, to do so
It also comes after a report revealed Friday that Trump plotted to replace his attorney general with an ultra-loyalist during his final month in office
