Without having to install them on individual personal computers, terminal servers allow you to make programs available to employees within an organization. This saves licensing costs for applications and centralizes the management of software upgrades. Hosting terminal servers also helps administrators to externally control and manage systems. When you have root access, you can install LTSP terminal server software on any Linux server. A staunch server with ample CPU, RAM and storage space is ideally suited to this application as the resources needed by the terminal server rely on the demands of the applications.

In order to provide levels of performance, protection and control similar to those of a dedicated server, cloud servers can be configured. But they live in a shared "virtualized" environment operated by your cloud storage company instead of being hosted on physical hardware that is only used by you. You benefit from the economies of scale of other customers sharing hardware. And, you pay only for the same amount of space used for the server. Cloud servers also allow you to scale up or down resources, based on demand, so that when demand is poor, you don't pay for idle infrastructure costs.
