Shane Doan is more than 5,000 miles away, but he's got a few Coyotes keeping him company.
Doan is in Riga, Latvia, the location of the 2021 IIHF World Championship, which begins Friday, May 21, and runs through June 6.
The Coyotes' Chief Hockey Development Officer is an Assistant General Manager for Team Canada, working alongside General Manager Roberto Luongo and fellow Assistant General Manager Scott Salmond.
Included on Canada's roster are three Coyotes -- goalies Darcy Kuemper and Adin Hill, and forward Michael Bunting. Doan, whose job includes inviting players, also offered an invitation to forward Lawson Crouse, who accepted but suffered a season-ending injury May 5.
