Since the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, one thing that hasn't changed in Indian Cricket are the openers in the limited-overs. Yes, injuries and rest aside Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have been the two dependable and consistent performers for the Indian side for the last eight years. However, the emergence of KL Rahul in the shortest format and as a wicket-keeping option meant that he couldn't be left out of the playing XI and when he was indeed made a part of the team, his performances took the international cricket by storm so much so that, he is the No 3 batsman in the world in the shortest format.
