An important part of the Lee County School District’s EnVision 2030 strategic plan — increase kindergarten readiness as only 41 percent are prepared for kindergarten– was addressed during a recent school board meeting
The first goal of objective 2 is to increase the percentage of pre-k students identified as prepared for kindergarten to at least 50 percent by June 30, 2021. Board members asked how the district’s 41 percent kindergarten readiness compared across the state.
Superintendent Dr. Greg Adkins said the district is one of the lowest in the state. He said the small rural districts were the ones that scored lower.
