Discount airfares to bring tourists back
Assistant Minister for Industry Development Jonno Duniam says tourism businesses across Tasmania will benefit from an influx of tourists from the Morrison Government’s 800,000 half-price airfare tickets, as part of the $1.2 billion tourism and aviation package.
Burnie, Devonport, Launceston and Hobart are among the initial 15 regions that the Government is supporting through its discounted airfares initiative.
Assistant Minister Duniam said over 100,000 tickets had been snapped up in the 12 hours since the airfares went on sale.
“Tasmania’s tourism industry was hit hard by the pandemic, but our tourism operators are resilient, and we will do whatever we can to help them bounce back,” Assistant Minister Duniam said.
