Diners mark Chinese New Year with hopes Covid-19 will ease soon

The Chinese spring festival begins today, marking the start of the year of the ox. As one of the most important traditional festivals in Chinese culture, it's a time when families gather to mark a year's hard work and look forward to a bright future.

Many Chinese New Zealanders went out for dinner last night to celebrate the New Year's Eve with family and friends and a lot of restaurants in Auckland have been booked out, offering some relief to businesses hit hard by the Covid-19 lockdown.
