law? >> reporter: well, that's a great, great question. so, typically, you don't lose your law license until have you been convicted of a crime. his law license would be out of california in this particular case, he faces charges, 36 of them in an entirely separate federal case. presumably he could still practice law. on the other hand, it's going to be very difficult for anybody to hire him. some of the charges he is facing here. a judge would ask somebody. so if you hired michael aven nate today to represent you, a judge will ask that person, you do realize some of the things he's charged with, for things he represented to clients. a judge could allow him not to be an attorney or represent anybody in this intervening time period between today's arrangement and the actual trial date. so i think will be it will be very hard for him to practice law, which could obviously exacerbate some of his financial woes. >> tom, as always, thanks, so much for being there. we'll check in with you later
